Pictures from the Isabella County Human Rights “Let Peace Reign” event on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Island Park, Mt. Pleasant. We had a beautiful event, a ceremony with amazing guests and community members. We participated in a peace walk! We paused to commemorate peace and share the day with one another. We were gifted with music by our Native American women elders from the Tribe. We want to thank all those who were present and the local businesses and organizations who supported this event through donations. We look forward to seeing you next year. Peace and thanks.

Join the Isabella County Human Rights Committee on September 21, 2024 at Island Park for our annual Let Peace Reign event. There are prizes, music, speakers, and fun. Come meet local people who care about peace and support a good cause. Peace is such a huge issue and talking with like minded individuals may be just what you need to feel safe in your community. Meet at the Amphitheatre in Island Park on September 21st from 4 to 7. Make friends, enjoy good company, and listen to one another about what peace means to them. Hope to see you there.

"If there’s a goal of having taxes lowered, we might already be working toward that because of the education that’s happening on the commission. We know and understand a lot more now. … The voters approve an up-to amount, the Board of Commissioners, as an annual process, gets to say what that amount is."

Since the early 1980s, Isabella County residents have easily renewed its general operations millage. So why, on the eve of early voting in the Aug. 6 state-wide primary, is this year different?
