The Mt Pleasant Public Schools is now accepting applications for the open position of Trustee on the MPPS Board of Education. The candidate selected for this position will be appointed to a term that expires on December 31, 2026.

Interested applicants should submit their letter of interest to the Superintendent, Jennifer Verleger, by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

We just finished totaling the Senior Honors Award Scholarships, and we are thrilled to share that our MPHS seniors have been awarded over $1,469,934 in scholarships so far!

We know this number doesn't capture everything—many awards are self-reported—but it’s an incredible milestone worth celebrating. This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work of our students and the unwavering support from all of you.

With all precincts in Mt. Pleasant counted, unofficial results on Tuesday night show that the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Operating Millage Renewal passed with 77.4% of the vote! 💙💛

We would like to thank the voters of Mt. Pleasant Public Schools for supporting this important millage renewal, which will help us continue to provide a world-class education at MPPS. This millage renewal will allow us to continue supporting Career and Technical Education instructors and programs, school safety officers, teachers, counselors, social workers, school nurses and other critical staff who help our students learn, achieve and succeed.

Here’s a fact about Mt. Pleasant Public Schools’ Operating Millage Renewal on the Tuesday, May 6, ballot: Homeowners do NOT pay this millage. Only commercial and rental property owners and businesses pay the millage, which for at least 20 years has helped prepare young people for jobs and careers and created a talent pipeline here in Mt. Pleasant.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent our community on the Mt. Pleasant School Board 💛💙

Thank you to the MANY people who supported our campaigns in so many ways. I am especially thankful for Kristina and Kurt’s campaign efforts. Although Kristina did not make it on the board, I know she will continue supporting our students and community in other ways. And I am looking forward to working with Derek and the other members of the Mt. Pleasant School Board to work toward our district’s goals.

This has been quite the journey and I have learned so much. What has been most evident is the passion our community has for supporting our students and the appreciation of the many roles within our school district. I look forward to learning more and contributing to our community in a new way.
