Let’s cut the crap…💩
Dog p**p isn’t harmless and some of you missed that memo. Every time it rains, pet waste that wasn’t picked up gets washed towards our local creeks and marshes. Those are the same creeks that we love to swim, fish, and boat in.
P**p bacteria in our waterways is bad enough, but it gets worse. Dog p**p that isn’t picked up can spread viruses and parasites to our furry friends. Keep our dogs safe, it’s your duty to pick up the doody.
💚 Pick it up in a bag and throw it away (in a proper trash can)
💔 Don’t just leave it there. P**p is a contaminant to our waterways and other dogs.
💔 Dog p**p doesn’t go in our yard waste bags. Yard waste is composted and nobody wants to garden with dog p**p.
💔 Don’t fling it anywhere! It’s still a pollutant even if it’s out of sight.
💔 It’s not fertilizer (they don’t sell dog p**p at garden centers do they…)
Cleaning up after your furry friends and disposing of their waste ensures safety for all of Mount Pleasant’s wildlife, dogs, and humans alike. Be a ⭐️Scooper Star⭐️, no one else is going to scoop your dog’s p**p for you…

Hold your horses 🤲🏼🐎
We love your energy about taking down infested trees that have invasive Asian Longhorned Beetles, buttttt some of y’all gave us quite the scare. All infested woody plant material is subject to very particular rules and regulations. These rules are meant to keep this nasty bug from spreading farther across the Charleston area. Infested trees and their woody debris WILL contain eggs, larval, and adult stages of the Asian Longhorned Beetle. That means wherever our infested trees get hauled to, infection will spread. So, what are these fancy schmancy rules?
1 – Contact the Asian Longhorned Beetle team (humans from Clemson and USDA) prior to the removal
2 – Make sure you use a contractor in compliance with the program. Infested trees must be chipped on site or hauled to specific quarantine chipping services.
3 – That’s kind of it 🤷🏼‍♂️. We just need to make sure these infested trees are NOT being driven all over the place, making the infestation worse.
We love proactive efforts by residents and businesses, but let’s be careful to avoid making the problem worse on accident 🐜🔨

So when we said March's results would be ready soon.... about that.....
A long time ago in a Town far, far away... Mount Pleasant residents composted 1.93 tons of food waste in March instead of sending it to the landfill. That’s 4,255 pounds of food waste that we diverted. You're doing great Mount Pleasant!🧡💚

We’re keeping an eye on the forecast for Saturday morning. We don’t mind some rain, but lightning is a no-go for us. We want to make sure all of our volunteers stay safe. With that, we will be making a final judgement call about the weather at 9am tomorrow morning. This should give you plenty of time to cancel your drive prior to the event, as needed. This final weather judgment call will only be posted on our social media accounts!! So make sure you check at 9am for a cancellation or a “yes the event is still on”. Fingers crossed we can clean at Shem Creek tomorrow.
