Remember when the biggest issues for the Mount pleasant Town council election was affordable housing and traffic?

One of the candidates told you that both of these things were not going to happen in Mount Pleasant. The the post in courier endorsed the people who told you that was their number one priority.

How many more new banks are coming? Did we need a new gas station?

Maybe one day comforting lies won't convince people anymore. Maybe keep these pictures in mind next time you believe people running for office in our town.

It’s not very often that the people who tax us actually ask our permission before imposing a new tax upon us, and this is because they usually don’t have to.

In 1982, the Grace Commission under the Reagan Adminstration found that exactly ZERO percent of the federal income tax went towards the things we think we are taxed for. Considering the national debt has vastly outpaced the income tax revenue, of course it hasn’t gotten any better. It’s right there on Wikipedia.

Don’t pay any mind to how they try to sell it to you, make no mistake it is being sold and only because they can’t force it on us.

The entire reason why this new tax is being proposed is because they wasted the last one - don’t get fooled again and vote No on the Charleston County tax.

I know many of you have probably already voted but to those who don’t, I hope you take this into account.

Just got about $30K worth of mail ads from candidates wanting to be Town Council. That’s just one round of what some people spent on this election. No wonder people stay home on election days.

I spent about $1500 of my own money, and can you believe I forgot to include that I support first responders!?? What was I thinking?

No matter what happens tomorrow, always remember this:

While we may be told or led to believe otherwise, we do not have to defend our rights. We just have them.

Those who wish to limit them have the burden of proving that limiting them is necessary. It will almost always be under the guise of “keeping us safe”, usually from something they created and their solution almost never does this, and limits our rights.

Thank you more than I could possibly put into words to anyone who has already, or does vote for me tomorrow. I’ll consider it an honor, and an obligation.

- Mark

During a recent conversation with one of my close friends, Michael Cragg, a staunch republican who I respect more than he probably realizes, I was told to emphasize my conservative bona-fides. I’ll do my best.

We have all been disappointed by politicians over the the last three years - on both sides. In fact, there are both liberals 𝘢𝘯𝘥 conservatives in this race that supported authoritarian mandates, and continue to defend these non-sensical edicts as if somehow they were justified *at the time*. The labels no longer adequately describe the world we live in.

I am an American who cherishes and values the ideals upon which this country was founded, easily summed up in one word: Freedom. If you supported, or still support the government interfering with our God-given liberties, then I do not stand with you.

Don't take my word for it. At great financial and personal risk and penalty, I have walked the walk.

I spoke out in defense of our children publicly at the CCSD School board in 2021 and in 2022 when mask mandates were part of the agenda, as a CCSD teacher, and to my knowledge remain the only teacher to have done so. After each meeting, I was reassigned to a different position. You can watch it on www.instagram.com/flannerymptc

Shortly after the Mask Mandate in Mount Pleasant took effect, I stood up for my daughter to the point that a local business called the police because I refused to put a mask on her as a 3
year-old. My loud protestations that it did not apply to those younger than 12 were met with needing to be silenced and intimidated. The police actually came.

My brother's restaurant, of which I am a part owner, was the only restaurant in Washington, D.C. to actively resist the unlawful, non-sensical government mandate. The city is still fighting us, almost two years later, trying to justify their illegal actions. It was the worst financial decision we ever made, but the decision on whether or not we should do it was an easy one to make. Because it was the only one to make.

I support Civil Liberties, Parental Rights and Health Freedom without qualification. Traffic* will be the least of our problems if we do not protect those. If you also believe in these ideals, then I am the candidate you should support.

*And a hard NO to the Road to “Compromise”. There are much better and cheaper solutions, and those affected most - Park West and Dunes West communities - support, and I do too.

I've uploaded one video there. If you find yourself wondering, "Will Mark Flannery stand up for what is right, regardless of the personal risk that he takes on, when it matters?" then I think you will have your answer after watching, because I have already done it. As has my brother in Washington D.C. (see previous post).

I would remind you that all three incumbents, Jake Rambo, Howard Chapman and Julie Hyatt voted to mask our children as young as age 12, twice in September 2021 almost two years after the government response to the covid fiasco changed the world. Most of us in South Carolina had figured it out by then, and the Town Council not only didn't listen, they didn't return calls when we tried to reach them.

Whatever stories the candidates tell you about why they cast these unforgivable votes, they are only excuses. If you read closely, you will see that they are also mostly false representations of what actually happened.

None of them have, nor should we expect any of them to apologize and admit they were wrong.

I have understood what my job as an American would be from early 2020, and that is do everything in my power to make sure that people who vote like that are not reelected.

I am doing my part, but I can not do it with out the help of as many fellow patriots as possible. We have an amazing town, but we can not say "Oh, that will never happen here." We have to make absolutely damn sure that it never happens here by electing the people who have proven they will stand up for families and freedom. If we don't, traffic and parks and rec will be the least of our worries.

Vote Mark Flannery Mount Pleasant Town Council on November 7th and bring as many people as you can to do so with you.

And when I am elected, make sure you continue to question EVERYTHING that I do. We should ALL question authority, and I will be extremely disappointed if the people who elected me don't question my decisions.

This is the kind of hard hitting journalism that we need. Charleston City Paper has determined that money plays a part in who is elected to public office.

Kind of like in 2018 when dark money group Coalition for Kids pumped $750k into the school board elections and all of their candidates won.

The tone was a bit different back then:

The Legislature needs to close the S.C. dark money loophole next year — 𝒏𝙤𝒕 𝒃𝙚𝒄𝙖𝒖𝙨𝒆 𝒕𝙝𝒆 𝑪𝙤𝒂𝙡𝒊𝙩𝒊𝙤𝒏 𝒇𝙤𝒓 𝑲𝙞𝒅𝙨 𝙞𝒔 𝒆𝙭𝒑𝙡𝒐𝙞𝒕𝙞𝒏𝙜 𝙞𝒕 …
