⚠️ Reminder About Signs in the Public Right-of-Way
Residents, businesses, organizations, and campaigns are reminded that signs may not be placed in the public right-of-way, on public sidewalks, or on other City-owned property unless specifically permitted by the City Code.
Signs also may not:
• Be attached to utility poles, traffic signs or poles, control stations, trees, or natural features
• Obstruct the view of drivers entering or traveling on a public roadway
• Interfere with or be confused with an official traffic sign, signal, or device
• Be placed within a designated clear zone unless approved by the City
Please check that your signs are located entirely on private property and do not create a visibility or traffic hazard. If you are unsure where the public right-of-way ends and your property begins, contact City Hall before placing the sign.
These requirements are found in Section 19.09.140 of the Mount Pleasant City Code. Thank you for helping keep sidewalks, streets, and intersections safe and accessible.

🗑️ Labor Day Trash Schedule

Trash collection will be delayed by one day due to the Labor Day holiday. This schedule change applies to both Wemiga Waste and Lance Refuse Service Inc. customers. within city limits.

📅 Wednesday, September 9 pickup will take place Thursday, September 10.

📅 Thursday, September 10 pickup will take place Friday, September 11.

Please have your trash at the curb by the regularly required collection time on your rescheduled pickup day.

The City of Mount Pleasant would like to remind residents that City offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

As thousands of visitors gather in Mount Pleasant for the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion, they are enjoying one of our community’s most treasured spaces: McMillan Park, also known as the Henry County Fairgrounds.

Throughout the year, McMillan Park hosts many beloved events, including:

• Midwest Old Threshers Reunion
• Midwest Haunted Rails
• Henry County Fair
• Mount Pleasant’s 4th of July Celebration
• North Pole Express
• Mount Pleasant Farmers Market

The park is named in honor of Thomas W. McMillan, who served as Mount Pleasant City Manager for 35 years. His leadership helped shape much of our city’s infrastructure, including water mains, fire hydrants, the electric system, sewer lines and even the municipal ice plant.

Amid the hustle and bustle of Old Threshers, take a moment to appreciate the history beneath your feet. For generations, McMillan Park has brought people together, and this week, that tradition continues! 🚂🌾
