While we are at it, we would like to send a huge thank you to DABlue for these amazing baskets, given to us this afternoon in honor of Police Week. We are extremely grateful for the support and appreciation by your organization and all of the others like yours that do what they do for their police departments.

These particular baskets were donated in the name of Officer Jeff Storms, a dear friend of ours we lost in 2022. His memory lives on through things such as this, and we are especially grateful this week while we remember our brothers and sisters who have both served alongside us and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you!

Today at the Mt. Morris High School a mock crash was done to show students the dangers of drinking and driving. The students did a great job acting out the scene and the school staff also did a great job by setting this up. There were first responders from Mt. Morris City Police and Fire Departments, Genesee County Sheriffs Department, Mt. Morris Township Fire Department, Patriot and MMR Ambulance. We hope the students learned from this event and stay safe everyone.

Good morning everyone,

Our DPW has asked us to share the applicable city ordinance regarding overgrown lawns and weeds, as enforcement begins May 1st. Please be aware that if the mowing crew has to begin mowing any portion of the lawn even if it is stopped by the owner, the owner will still be charged the full cost of mowing. So please do yourselves a favor and stay on top of the yard maintenance. If unknown circumstances make this impossible, please contact the city in advance to make arrangements.

Thanks!

Good afternoon everyone,

Our DPW has asked us to make sure everyone is aware that our area is under a flood watch from approximately 8pm tonight to late Thursday night. Due to excessive rainfall the past several days and already saturated ground, the bouts of rain we are expecting in that time frame may result in excessive runoff into bodies of water and low-lying areas. Please treat flooded areas as highly dangerous, as they can hide other dangers as well as presenting dangers themselves.

Oh and if you should happen to see a large boat carrying two of every animal, you may want to see if you can hitch a ride. Stay dry!

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW) 2026. The City of Mt. Morris Police Department wanted to do something a little different this year. So, we had two champ chain's made from our friends at Catania Medallic Specialty Inc. One chain is a little different and has a little Flavor Flave spinner action to it 😎. We would like to thank Genesee County 911 along with all other 911 Dispatch Centers for all the amazing work they do and have to deal with on a every day basis. Thank you again for everything and you will always have our support. Love you guys and stay safe!!! In the picture is dispatcher Thomas Husby (right) along with Deputy Director Dave Plumb (left) and Chief Kevin Mihailoff (center).

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month! You may notice we are sporting some new decorations out front of City Hall, given to us by Voices for Children Advocacy Center. Most child abuse is only reported and stopped when someone outside of the abuse notices and takes a stand. So please, if you see something, say something! Remember to wear blue on April 10th to help show your support. Thank you our partners at Voices for Children and Genesee County Child Protective Services for always looking out for our little ones. Stay safe everyone and Happy Easter!

Afternoon,

We wanted to let the community know that with in the last hour our officers were involved in a foot pursuit with a male suspect who was believed to be involved with a domestic violence incident that occurred overnight and a larceny from a local business. Officers were able to get the male in custody in the Spruce St and Spadina Ave area with no injuries to anyone. That male was taken to the Genesee County Jail for fresh criminal charges. Thank you to some of the community members who assisted officers in letting them know what direction the male was heading. Also, a thanks goes to the Genesee Township and Mt. Morris Township officers for assisting on the call. There are no outstanding suspects at this time and there is no safety concern for the community.
