Proud to have partnered with Senator Devlin Robinson and PA State Rep. Natalie Mihalek to bring $253,043 in state grant funding to Upper St. Clair Township for the purchase of a NEW emergency medical response vehicle for Tri-Community South EMS. Also serving our neighbors in Bethel Park and South Park, we are grateful to our first responders for the lifesaving care they provide throughout our communities, and honored to support their work with this funding.

I am thrilled to announce nearly $1.8 million in state grant funding for our district! With great partners including Sen. Nick Pisciottano and Sen. Wayne Fontana, we secured support for four projects that address real needs in our communities:

$580,000 to fund stabilization of the slope and roadway near Belleville Street in Castle Shannon—helping protect the roadway and the people who regularly use this route.

$550,000 toward construction of an underground stormwater storage facility in Dormont—helping the borough better manage stormwater during periods of heavy rainfall.

$400,000 toward demolition of the South Parking Garage in Mt. Lebanon—allowing the municipality to move forward with a major local infrastructure project.

$265,201 to fully fund the purchase of a new ambulance for MRTSA, serving Mt. Lebanon, Dormont, Castle Shannon and Baldwin Township—helping ensure our first responders have reliable equipment to provide lifesaving emergency care throughout the communities they serve.

Helping make our district safer and stronger is one of the best parts of my job. I’m proud to secure funding for projects that will directly improve lives in our communities.

Are you registered to vote? If not, today's a great day to get it done! It's National Voter Registration Day. October 19 is the last day to register to vote - but why wait? As we've seen in some VERY close elections in our region recently: Every. Vote. Counts. Make sure your voice is heard too!

I had a fantastic time this morning on the Tri-Boro bike ride with Move Lebo! We rode from Needle & Bean to Uptown then Beverly in Mt. Lebanon, used Dell to ride into Dormont and to Potomac Ave, then made our way to Brookline Boulevard!

Nothing beats seeing the South Hills by bike! I love meeting fellow bike enthusiasts and chatting about how we can make streets safer for biking and walking in District 42!

Today, we remember the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

This morning, I climbed 40 stories in full turnout gear to honor the first responders who ran toward danger on that tragic day. For me, it was only an exercise—I knew I was safe. I knew I could stop. What I did does not compare to what first responders faced that morning, but it gave me an even greater appreciation for the weight they carried, in every sense of the word. I also had the solemn responsibility of reading 400 names of the nearly 3,000 people who died. The ceremony was a small act of respect for them, for those who have lived with the physical and emotional consequences ever since, and for the first responders who continue to answer the call every day.

Thank you to Rep. Natalie Mihalek for inviting me to take part and to all the fire companies that participated, including the Upper St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department. Special thanks to Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Captain Tim Leech and McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority Chief Chris Dell for helping me gear up for the climb.

Mt. Lebanon High School senior Catherine Balfe joined me in Philadelphia this week for Pennsylvania’s America250 commemoration after winning our district’s essay contest. She wrote about the need for additional state funding to fight food insecurity across Pennsylvania. Together, we had the chance to be part of a historic House session at Congress Hall—the building where Congress met more than two centuries ago. I was so proud that Catherine could join us and represent our community. She and her peers are going to change the world!

While in Philadelphia for a special session this week, I joined fellow House members for a boat tour of the Delaware River and a firsthand look at Philadelphia's working waterfront. We learned more about the people and infrastructure that keep goods moving, support thousands of jobs, and connect Pennsylvania businesses with markets around the world.

From the Delaware to our three rivers here in Pittsburgh, investing in waterways, ports, and transportation infrastructure means investing in Pennsylvania’s economic future.
