Normalcy Bias
Normalcy Bias is real and it’s what prevents people from reacting to an emergency. Quite simply it’s the natural tendency of a human being to believe something awful is happening so your brain makes up something less horrific. Your brain tells you it’s “fireworks” even though there’s no logical reason there’d be fireworks happening.
Knowing what normalcy bias looks like is an important first step in knowing how to overcome it in an emergency.

Got a referral about a really troubling human trafficking case of an 18 year old girl. SA and assault. Yes she’s using resources provided but she has NO family or support. She’s currently at a shelter but it’s pretty bad there. We’re helping her with what we can but we need your help. Please consider helping!
