Eat Local. Support Local. Fight Local Hunger.

At The Pantry, we know hunger is not an abstract problem. It affects our neighbors right here in Northern Westchester.

This Hunger Action Month, local businesses are opening their doors and inviting you to help fight hunger. When you support one of our participating businesses, you’re also helping provide nutritious food to neighbors through The Pantry.

We’re in need of clean, reusable grocery bags to help our guests carry their groceries home.

Please note: no paper bags, and we prefer not to receive cloth bags for hygiene reasons. Sturdy reusable bags, such as FreshDirect-style bags, are ideal.

Bags can be dropped off anytime in our shed. Because our distributions are active on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and parking is very limited, Thursday through Monday is the best time to drop off donations.

Thank you for helping us keep groceries packed, protected and easier for our guests to carry home!

September is Hunger Action Month, and you can make a difference when you shop at our community partners.

When you visit OHHo the Old Firehouse in Bedford, you can help fight hunger simply by rounding up your purchase at the register.

For the next year, all round-up contributions will support The Pantry and our mission to provide nutritious food to our neighbors in need.

AND…When you buy a PizzaGirls NY pizza at oHHo the Old Firehouse, a portion of the sale will be donated directly to The Pantry.

So grab a pizza, bring home dinner, and help provide food for local families at the same time!

Good food. Good neighbors. Good cause.

Happy National Eat Outside Day!

Today, we’re celebrating the simple joy of sharing a meal outdoors—and the importance of making sure everyone in our community has access to nourishing food.

Whether you’re enjoying a picnic in the park, lunch in your backyard, or a snack on the go, we hope you take a moment to savor the sunshine and good company. And please help us nourish our neighbors so we can all enjoy healthy food!

Who knew cabbage could do all this? 🥬

This week, Elisa Bremner of Green Bites turned cabbage into Dirty Cabbage, a hearty, delicious plant-based dish with chickpeas, lentils, peppers, onions and lots of savory flavor.

With cabbage being offered to our guests, it was a perfect way to show how one simple, nutritious ingredient can become the start of a really satisfying meal.

That’s what we enjoy about Elisa’s Green Bites demonstrations: healthy food, everyday ingredients and delicious ideas our guests can take home with them.

The Pantry is so grateful for community partners who help bring fresh, healthy food to our neighbors. And a special thank you to our own Roberta Horowitz, whose warmth and commitment to community make days like this even more meaningful.

This week, we’re pleased to spotlight St. Francis of Assisi in Mount Kisco, one of The Pantry’s longtime interfaith congregational partners.

Members of the congregation put their faith into action by serving neighbors with compassion, humility and respect.

“Volunteering at The Pantry is so rewarding because you see the immediate impact of your compassion. Neighbors leave with dignity and the nourishment they need. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, we learn that true giving comes from a humble heart and offering ourselves in service, just as he devoted his life to caring for the poor.”

We are grateful to Cindy Bradley, Marion Corsi, Rosemarie Farenga, Dana Hickey, Harold Hochstein, Jane Pieragostini, Claude Preece and Andrew Weidman, pictured volunteering at The Pantry, and to the entire St. Francis of Assisi community for its continued support of our neighbors.

Thank you for being an important part of The Pantry community.
