**New addition to the MKFD fleet**

Our new motto: By Land, Sea or Air…we are here to serve.

We are please to announce that our newly purchased Marine Unit will soon be sailing the open waters of Byram Lake & Wallace pond and will be navigating the narrow channels of the Branch Brook & Kisco River.

This now un-retired US Coast Guard Cutter is a Legend-class cutter, that has a length of 418 feet (127 meters), a beam of 54 feet (16 meters), and a draft of 22.5 feet (6.9 meters).

This boat, which will be know as Marine 228, will be able to provide immediate response to water emergencies, regular boater safety patrol/inspections, as well as ice breaking services during the winter.

With the purchase of this boat, we add to our growing fleet that includes engines, a tower ladder, rescues, UTV, and our Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter (that was purchased last year).

While this post is a joke, joining the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department is not. If you are interested in volunteering please email [email protected]

Yesterday, the Mount Kisco FD hosted our 70th annual Communion Breakfast. We were proud to host Jeremy Donch of National Fire Radio who gave a presentation on bridging the gap between young and old. We thank Jeremy for coming up to speak to our department. We have a long legacy of strong membership and we look to preserve this.
During this time honored tradition, we also celebrate the lives of the members who passed within the last year. We appreciate our members who came out to support this yearly event. Also, a very special thank you to the members of the Auxiliary, who gave up their Sunday morning to prepare the meal for our members to enjoy.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Owen O’Hare, a lifelong resident of Mt. Kisco and a devoted 62 year member and Ex-Foreman of the Union Hook & Ladder Company.

His deep sense of civic duty defined his life—whether being local business owner, a custodian at West Patent Elementary School, serving his community as a volunteer firefighter, or in “retirement” serving the Village of Mount Kisco as a parking enforcement officer.

Owen’s legacy of service, humor, and devotion to his community will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and all who had the honor of serving alongside him.

Rest easy, Owen. We’ll take it from here. 🚒❤️

Happy Thanksgiving all!!

Here are some quick tips to keep your turkey day safe.

Never leave the stove unattended while cooking - grease fires can start fast. Also who wants burnt stuffing because you got distracted.

Keep flammable stuff like towels and pot holders away from burners. Also, keep your clothes away from the burners….meaning don’t lean too close to steal an early sample.

If you deep-fry the bird, do it outside, away from the house, and check the oil temp often. Have a fire extinguisher handy, and if flames start, smother with a lid, do NOT use water.
