🌿 What. A. Day. 🌄
The FIRST annual Merestead Conservancy Hike was a fabulous success — and we couldn’t have done it without all of YOU! 💚
Families, friends, music lovers, and trailblazers came together to climb to the top of the hills at beautiful Merestead in Mount Kisco… and what a view it was! 😍
🎶 Live music filled the air
🚚 Food trucks brought the flavor
🍦 Ice cream kept us cool
👣 And the trails carried our happy feet!
This wasn’t just a hike — it was a celebration of community, nature, and the joy of moving together under the wide open sky. We breathed in fresh autumn air, flew our spirits high, and made memories that will last long after the leaves fall.
Thank you to everyone who came, volunteered, danced, and dined. We can't wait to do it all again next year — bigger, brighter, and bolder.

First annual take a hike to Merestead was a huge success today. We even have a tune to prove it 😊
🎶 Into Merestead (To the tune of "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison)🎵

We were born before the sunrise,
Laced our boots up nice and tight—
To the hills of Mount Kisco,
Where the view just feels so right.

We hiked with tunes in our hearts,
And the food trucks rollin’ near,
As we laughed and climbed together,
With that ice cream bringin' cheer...

And we went... into Merestead!
Oh, the trails, they called our name,
With the leaves in golden flame,
And a breeze that sang our way—
We just had to stay...🎵

Hear the music driftin' sweetly,
Where the summit meets the sky,
And the Hudson valley stretched beneath us,
Like a dream that never dies.

Oh, the first of many memories,
As we danced up every bend—
Merestead, you’ve got our hearts now,
We can’t wait to go again!

Yeah we went... into Merestead!
With the friends we newly found,
Feet on dirt, not on the ground,
Joy and nature all around—
Yeah, we’re Merestead bound!🎵

So next year when the sun shines,
And we’re callin’ out your name—
Grab your boots and bring your laughter,
It’ll never be the same.

Let the views lift up your spirit,
Let the cones melt in your hand—
Come and hike with Merestead now,

Croquet, Cookies and Lemonade

Join the Merestead Conservancy for our second annual Cookies, Lemonade and Croquet event on Sunday, October 5, 3-5PM, complete with live music and, this year, gourmet homemade ice cream included!

Why cookies and croquet? Well, William Sloane's daughter, Margaret was born in 1910 and died in 2000 at the age of 90. Margaret married Robert Lee Patterson, Jr., a prominent orthopedic surgeon in New York City and often hosted local neighbors serving cookies and lemonade in the gardens. We have reestablished this tradition to the delight of Merestead friends and family.

$40/$75/$100 donation per person. Rain or shine.

Mark your calendars and don't miss this fun event at Merestead!! This Friday!!

Join us for an evening walk around Merestead, July 18, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. to observe bats as they emerge from their roosts. The walk will include discussions about bat diversity, habitat and behavior. Participants will also learn how scientists can use acoustic monitoring of echolocation to detect bats. Meet at the carriage house parking area on the south side of 455 Byram Lake Road in Mount Kisco. Program will run in light rain, but worse weather will cancel.
