Our first of five Home Rule public information meetings will be held one week from today.

Join us Monday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Juliet High School. District 1 Commissioner Art Giles will host the meeting as we provide information and answer questions regarding the referendum to repeal Home Rule that will appear on the November ballot.

Four additional public meetings will follow throughout the community. We encourage residents to attend and learn more ahead of Election Day.

Today we congratulate Deputy City Manager Michael Mullins on an incredible 29 years of service to the City of Mt. Juliet!

Michael’s Mt. Juliet story started behind a dispatch console with the Mt. Juliet Police Department. Over the next almost three decades, he worked his way through the ranks of the department, eventually serving as Deputy Chief of Police and Chief of Police before taking on his current role as Deputy City Manager.

Along the way, Michael has dedicated his career to serving our citizens, supporting our employees and helping lead Mt. Juliet through tremendous growth. His career also includes graduating from the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in 2023.

From dispatcher to Deputy City Manager, 29 years represents quite a journey — and an even greater commitment to the community he serves.

Deputy City Manager Michael Mullins provided a City of Mt. Juliet update this morning at Charlie Daniels Park during a meeting of the Wilson County Republican Party, with members of our elected body also in attendance.

Mullins covered several important topics impacting Mt. Juliet, including the repeal of Home Rule, which will be on the voting ballot this November and is a topic we know many residents have questions about.

We appreciate the opportunity to provide information and answer questions about what’s happening across our City. Mullins is also scheduled to speak with the Wilson County Democratic Party next week as we continue making City information available throughout the community.

Vice Mayor and District 2 Commissioner Bill Trivett and City PIO Justin Beasley were proud to support the Mt. Juliet FFA Chapter today at its annual Pancake Breakfast!

We had a great time enjoying breakfast, fellowship and the opportunity to support these outstanding students and their organization.

The City of Mt. Juliet is always proud to support programs that invest in our young people and help develop the next generation of leaders in our community.

This morning, the Mt. Juliet community gathered at the City of Mt. Juliet Clock Tower to mark 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

For a few moments, our community stood together to reflect on a day that changed our nation forever. We honored the 2,977 lives lost, the families who carried unimaginable loss, and the first responders whose courage and selflessness became a lasting symbol of that day.

Through the lowering of the flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence and “The Last Alarm,” Mt. Juliet paid tribute not only to those we lost, but also to the spirit of service and unity that followed September 11.

We were proud to have members of the Mt. Juliet Fire Department and Mt. Juliet Police Department take part in today’s remembrance, continuing the commitment to service that we honor on this day. We were also grateful to have Wilson County Emergency Services Rehab Association - Rehab 23, Tunnel to Towers, Jeff Caron - Country Financial, and mt juliet buzz represented as our community came together to remember and pay tribute.

A quarter-century has passed, but our promise remains the same: remember their names, share their stories and make sure future generations understand the significance of September 11.

Thank you to the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce, led by President & CEO Mark Hinesley, for bringing our community together for this special remembrance.

Mt. Juliet remembers. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
