This is so much more than just a walk down Main Street. It’s our team's commitment to celebrating the dedication and spirit of these Special Olympics Virginia athletes who inspire our officers every single day!

A huge thank you to everyone who cheered us along the route, tapped their brakes, or honked to show support. Together, we are raising critical awareness and funds to champion these incredible athletes!

The Mount Jackson Police Department will be taking unused and expired medications in cooperation with the DEA National Drug Take Back program on April 25, 2026.
You can drop off your medications between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the police department and the Mt. Jackson Pharmacy.

🚛 UPDATE: Large Trash Pick-Up RESCHEDULED

We know many of you were gearing up for our Spring-cleaning event this week (04/22/26), but we have a quick update to share. Due to the milling and paving work currently transforming Main Street, we are rescheduling our Large Trash Pick-Up to ensure our crews can navigate safely and efficiently.

We apologize for the shift in dates, and we truly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to keep our town looking its best!

NEW PICK-UP DATES: Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1

IMPORTANT: All items must be at the curbside by 7:00 AM on these dates.

WHAT WE CAN PICK UP:
Household Furniture: Couches, chairs, tables, etc.
Lawn Mowers
Tree Limbs: Must be no longer than 4ft long and tied in a bundle.
Metal Scraps: Please keep metal items in a separate pile from other household goods.

WHAT WE CANNOT PICK UP:
No loose brush or unbundled brush piles.
No hazardous materials: Tires, chemicals, or paint.
No electronics: TVs or computers.
No bagged items: Anything placed in garbage or plastic bags will not be collected.

THANK YOU for being such an incredible community and for working with us while we improve our streets. We can’t wait to help you clear out the clutter and get Mount Jackson looking sharp for the season!

Heads up on Main Street road work!

ROADWORK NOTICE (Main Street) 04.20.26

Milling and paving will be taking place Wednesday, April 22 through Friday, April 24 along Main Street, in the area where the new water main was installed, from Perry’s Trailer Park to just south of 6059 Main Street. Crews will begin Wednesday morning across from Perry’s Trailer Park and move south, milling then paving the southbound side first. Once completed, crews will finish the crossovers and patch work in the northbound lane.

•Work Hours: 7:30 AM-6:00 PM
•No on-street parking will be permitted within the work zone during active operations
•Expect delays during flagging operations
•Side street entrances may be temporarily closed while crews are working nearby

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this work. Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow all posted signs and directions from flagging personnel to help keep everyone safe.
