New Jersey’s Primary Election Day is this Tuesday, June 2, and offers registered Democrats and Republicans the opportunity to select their party’s candidates for this fall’s General Election.

For voters planning to cast ballots tomorrow, here are a few helpful reminders and tips:

✅ You must declare a party to vote in the New Jersey Primary

New Jersey is a closed primary, which means only declared Republicans and Democrats can cast ballots in their party’s respective primaries.

Unaffiliated voters can participate by declaring a party affiliation with the Republican or Democratic party in advance of the election or at the polls during early voting or Primary Election Day.

Registered Republicans and Democrats cannot switch parties on Primary Election Day.

🗳️ Where to vote on Tuesday, June 2

On Primary Election Day, voters should report to their assigned polling location. Voters should check their sample ballot for their specific voting location, especially voters in Bordentown Township, Burlington Township, Eastampton, Evesham, Lumberton, Moorestown, North Hanover, Pemberton, Tabernacle and Westampton, where the boundaries of voting districts were changed.

There were also polling location changes in Burlington City and Willingboro.

In addition to checking their sample ballot, voters can search for their assigned polling location online at https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/polling-place-search .

🕑 When do polls open and close?

Polls will open at 6 AM and remain open until 8 PM. Voters who are in line by 8 PM on June 2 have the right to vote, and polling places will remain open until the last voter in line at 8 PM has voted.

🗳️ Familiarize yourself with the voting equipment

Burlington County voters headed to the polls for the New Jersey Primary Election are encouraged to review an online video explaining how to cast their ballot with the County’s voting machines.

The machines consist of touch-screen ballot marking devices with printers and separate tabulation machines used to cast ballots after they are printed.

The video walks viewers through every step in the voting process – beginning with sign-in at the polls to selection, printing and casting ballots. It’s a great resource for new voters and offers a beneficial refresher for voters who have used the machines previously.

Mark your calendars because Burlington County’s tastiest business promotion is returning this summer.

The Burlington County Commissioners, Senator Troy Singleton and Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that this year’s Burlington County Restaurant Week will be held the first week in August, from Sunday, Aug. 2 through Saturday, Aug. 8.

Now in its sixth year, the weeklong promotion celebrates Burlington County’s restaurants, taverns, breweries, distilleries, wineries and food trucks. Restaurant Week showcases the amazing food, drinks, deserts and appetizers they serve.

Throughout the week, the Commissioners, Senator Singleton and the Chamber of Commerce will highlight participating establishments by making visits and posting spotlights about them on social media.

Most participating establishments also choose to create special menus, dishes or discounts to offer customers during the week.

“Restaurant Week was one of the first economic development initiatives our Board created in 2019, and it has rapidly grown to become one of the most popular of its kind in the entire region,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dr. Felicia Hopson. “More than 100 restaurants and eateries from across the county participated last year and we’re already hearing from some excited about this year’s edition. We’re proud of its success and we’re looking forward to making 2026 our biggest Restaurant Week yet.”

Restaurants can now sign up for Restaurant Week by completing a short online registration form at https://burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/burlco_restaurant_week_2026 .

There’s no charge to participate. Restaurants are simply asked to create a special dish, menu, discount or similar promotion of their choosing for the week.

Burlington County honored America’s fallen heroes and their surviving family and loved ones today during the annual Burlington County Memorial Day Wreath Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park in Burlington Township.

The ceremony is held on May 30 every in recognition of the holiday’s origin.

Burlington County Commissioner Tyler Burrell served as the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s service, which featured a keynote address from Army Reserves Col. John V. Wildermann, Congressional Legislative Liaison for the 99th Readiness Division headquartered on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

State Senator Troy Singleton and Burlington County Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel also spoke about the importance of honoring the fallen and making sure their service and sacrifice is never forgotten.

“Memorial Day is always a solemn and important occasion. But this year, as our nation celebrates its 250th Anniversary, it carries additional weight — reminding us that the freedoms we cherish were not given freely. They were secured through sacrifice, and preserved through sacrifice, in every generation since,” said Commissioner Eckel. “Countless Burlington County residents have given that last full measure. Our responsibility to them — to all the fallen we memorialize today — is to ensure their sacrifice is not forgotten. That it continues to matter. That we continue to uphold the principles and freedoms they died to protect.”

Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, Commissioner Randy Brolo, Assemblyman Balvir Singh, Assemblyman Anthony Angelozzi, Burlington County Sheriff James Kostoplis, Burlington County Surrogate Brian Carlin, along with numerous local mayors, council members and veterans also participated in the ceremony by presenting wreaths honoring those service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We thank all who attended and participated in this important observance and all the others held across Burlington County in recent days to memorialize those who gave their lives protecting our nation.

There’s still two days left to cast your ballot during the early voting period of the New Jersey Primary Election.

During the early voting period, Burlington County voters can visit any of 10 early voting locations to cast their Primary Ballot with a machine.

The poll hours during the final weekend are 10 AM to 8 PM today and 10 AM to 6 PM on the final day of early voting this Sunday, May 31.

Students at Willingboro’s Twin Hills Elementary School learned the ins and outs of County government and what it’s like to be a County Commissioner from the Burlington County Commissioner Director herself!

Commissioner Director Dr. Felicia Hopson visited the school and answered questions from two first-grade classes during the Twin Hills Elementary School’s Career Day. The students learned about the difference between county, state, municipal and federal governments and how the leaders of each are elected.

Thanks go out to the Twin Hills School students and staff for inviting the Commissioners to participate in this fun and insightful school activity!

For today’s Turn Back Time Thursday, we’re taking a look back to October 1962 when the world held its breath after a Soviet missile presence in Cuba kicked off a 13-day standoff. Nuclear war felt closer than ever.

What you may not know is that a key piece of America’s early warning system during the Cuban Missile Crisis was located in Burlington County.

In 1960, RCA built “The Golf Ball”, a white radar dome (or a ‘radome’), for the Air Force. 15 stories tall, it was built to shelter a radar antenna 84 feet in diameter to be used as a test facility for the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System. Drivers were able to see the dome from the nearby New Jersey Turnpike.

When the crisis escalated, the United States military pressed radar systems around the country – one in Texas, one in Alabama, and one in Moorestown – into service as part of an improvised network called “Falling Leaves”. RCA’s Missile and Surface Radar Division’s facility on Centerton Road focused its attention south toward the Caribbean.

Shortly before 9AM on October 28th, radar operators at the Moorestown facility reported to the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) that a nuclear missile had launched from Cuba with a predicted impact at 9:02 AM 18 miles west of Tampa. The United States declined to react. After 9:02 came and went without a detonation, operators discovered that a test tape simulating a missile launch and a satellite passing overhead had been the source of the warning.

The Golf Ball was dismantled in 1977 and replaced by the equally eye-catching USS Rancocas (aka the Vice Admiral James H. Doyle, Jr. Combat System Engineering Development Site). But for a few moments in 1962, the fate of much of the world rested on a radar station in Burlington County.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill to Burlington County today to visit one of the county’s most well-known and popular farms and farm stands: Russo's Fruit & Vegetable Farm, Inc. in Tabernacle.

Governor Sherrill toured the family farm and spoke with Russo and other area farmers about their crop losses from this year’s devastating April frost when many fruit trees and berry plants were blossoming. Joining the governor on the tour were Burlington County Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel, along with Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin, Assemblywoman Andrea Katz, Assemblyman Anthony Angelozzi, New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Ed Wengryn and Tabernacle Mayor Joseph Barton.

Founded in 1940 by Anthony Russo Jr., the farm is known for its variety of Jersey Fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, plants and seasonal decorations.

Earlier this month, Governor Sherill declared a state of emergency for farms impacted by the spring freeze. Preliminary estimates project losses to be in excess of $300 million with some growers anticipating 100% losses for some crops.

The Governor has also formally requested a federal disaster declaration, which would unlock low-interest loans to help farmers cover their losses.

Agriculture has been an integral part of Burlington County’s economy and culture throughout its history, and Burlington County continues to do everything in its power to promote and help support local farms and agriculture businesses. Supporting local farmers markets and farmstands like Russo’s is more important than ever.

Kitten season is in full bloom and the Burlington County Animal Shelter is looking for fosters willing to care for some of the shelter’s newborn kittens and others in need of special care before they are strong enough to be adopted.

Fosters interested in caring for newborn “baby bottle” kittens, along with older babies in need of socialization are needed. Hands-on training and support is provided by shelter staff and volunteers.

Typically, kittens need special care and supervision for about 8 weeks before they are old enough to be adopted.

Reminder for voters planning to vote in the New Jersey Primary next week: Make sure you check your sample ballot before going to the polls on June 2nd!

The Burlington County Board of Elections changed the boundaries of voting districts in the Bordentown Township, Burlington Township, Eastampton, Evesham, Lumberton, Moorestown, North Hanover, Pemberton, Tabernacle and Westampton to ensure the number of registered voters in each district is appropriate. In some towns, new voting districts were created as part of that process.

In addition to those changes, several polling locations were moved in Burlington City and Willingboro.

All voters are encouraged to review their sample ballot for their assigned voting district and polling location before going to the polls on Primary Election Day. Voters can also check using an online search tool at https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/polling-place-search or by calling the Burlington County Elections Hotline at 609-265-VOTE (8683).

Voters are also encouraged to bring their sample ballot with them to the polls during early voting and on Primary Election Day for a faster check-in.
