Today, members of the Mount Gilead Fire Department traveled to Columbus to receive the Ohio Department of EMS ‘Star of Life Award’ for their role in a grain bin rescue last year.

In December 2025, the Troy Township Fire Department requested assistance from multiple agencies to aid in the rescue. The rescue was extremely complex, but thanks to the training, cooperation, and professionalism of all of the agencies involved, the victim was successfully rescued!

MGFD members honored today were John Harbaugh, Jonathon Hasson, and John Coil.

We are extremely proud of the crew, and congratulate them on this incredible achievement!

Yesterday we joined the Morrow County Sheriff's Office and Morrow County EMS at Gilead Christian Schools to talk to the pre-schoolers about our careers, safety tips and we also showed our equipment. Thanks for allowing us to come out and talk with the students!
