Please only use the address found here: https://macombfostercloset.org/about-us Right now, children in our community are being removed from unsafe situations—abused, neglected, and abandoned—with nothing but the clothes on their backs. More than 10,000 children are currently in foster care in Michigan, and they’re entering the system scared, confused, and unprepared. Imagine arriving in a stranger

’s home without pajamas, socks, a toothbrush, or even a single toy to hold onto. No child should have to start over without the basics. Yet this is the heartbreaking reality for so many. Macomb Foster Closet exists to change that—immediately. We provide urgently needed clothing, hygiene items, bedding, and comfort items to children entering foster care. Every donation—whether a gently used hoodie or a backpack full of essentials—helps restore dignity, warmth, and a sense of belonging in a moment of crisis. But we can’t do it without you. Your support helps us respond within hours when a child needs help. It shows them they are not alone. It tells them their community cares. Help us meet the need—today. Follow us on Facebook, make a donation, and visit www.macombfostercloset.org to learn how you can make a difference right now.

Collaboration is the name of the game in charitable work, and Turning Point, Inc. and their Second Hand Rose🌹store are always great partners! This weekend they provided us two pallets full of diapers for babies and toddlers affected by foster care🙏🏼

We share a common value of helping abused children. When we have been out of something for a client they have stepped up, we hold a joint Christmas event together, and we each have extra resources we don’t need we share them. This collaboration helps us both service the needs of our community better💙

The Macomb Foster Closet is America’s largest foster closet, and was named the best charitable organization last year by the Macomb Daily. We served 2,173 children in 2025 thanks to a generous community and amazing volunteers! May is National Foster Care Month, so we are celebrating some of our great local loving foster families 🎉

Lindsay and James began their foster journey in 2019, and their home grew faster than they ever expected. They received their first placement in January 2020, and today they are a family of seven with biological, adopted, and fostered children ages 19, 6, 3, 3 and 2. All three foster placements are a sibling group, but arrived separately after each birth.

Lindsay said, “foster care has tested us in ways we never anticipated. The children are easy to love, but advocating for them in an impactful way can be difficult. One of the hardest parts is making sure they receive the services, support, and trauma-informed care they need to truly thrive. Having people on our team who genuinely look out for their best interests is incredibly important. Helping children navigate trauma, dysregulation, uncertainty, and the lack of permanency while living within the foster system is challenging. Foster care is not something you can do alone, it takes a village. The Macomb Foster Closet has been such a blessing to our family throughout this journey.

One of our greatest joys has been watching our medically fragile foster daughter reach milestones we once weren’t sure she would achieve. When we first started fostering, we never imagined we would feel equipped to care for a medically fragile child, but we learned quickly and grew alongside her.”

Lindsay and her husband James never dreamed of having a big family, but now they wouldn’t change it for the world. Watching these children heal, grow, and thrive has been more meaningful than any impact they could have made elsewhere. Thank you both 🙏🏼 for doing one of the hardest jobs, caring for kids in need who deserve a safe and loving home ❤️

This weekend we had a brand new foster parent get her first placement of a child entering foster care. We opened our doors for her to come in immediately, as we always do year round for new placements. These kids often come with absolutely nothing, and we want them to have everything they need to thrive and feel cared for. And best of all, they get to pick it out for themselves in a retail environment that doesn’t even feel like charity.

A special thank you to volunteer and board member Stephanie Kisell for coming in on a holiday weekend to serve this new foster parent with her new arriving child. Watch for more stories like this in our new video coming soon from the Macomb Foster Closet — you won’t want to miss it.

Catholic Charities is one of the 84 private foster agencies that DHHS contracts with to directly manage foster cases in Michigan. We serve their many client kids and the families who care for them.

They recently dropped off cases of new summer shoes and stuffed animals! We appreciate their partnership as part of the village ensuring all children and young adults affected by foster care have everything they need to thrive and feel cared for 💙

We all love ❤️ firefighters 🚒 And not just for saving lives, but also for the vast amount of community service they provide year round. A huge thank you to the Macomb Fire Chiefs Association, and their President—Mt. Clemens Fire Chief Dan Reynolds, for holding a fundraiser benefit for the Macomb Foster Closet. They raised $2,500 to help children and young adults affected by foster care in our local community!

Dan specifically said he chose us because he believes we do good work for kids who really need the support. Thank you Chief for that vote of confidence. Our dedicated group of over 80 volunteers truly appreciate it 🙏🏼 You’ve made a big impact with these funds 👍

David, Ameer and Fred finished up the very last of all the demolition on our future multi-purpose space, offices, conference room, project and activity room, toy workshop, and young adult resource room yesterday!

Additionally, over 50% of the drywall repairs and 30% of the painting are complete. This final building renovation and improvement project is on track, and being completely done by volunteers.

Thank you to our entire dedicated construction team who have done over a half million dollars worth of work on the building for free since we bought it. You have created a permanent forever home for the Macomb Foster Closet to serve children affected by foster care, a true impact on our local community 💙

Thank you to New Life Christian Church volunteers for spending Sunday with us at the Macomb Foster Closet sorting and moving boxes. We had just received a delivery of 10,0000 socks, so their efforts were very timely. We appreciate them being part of our village caring for kids in foster care 💙

Yesterday and today Michaels Stores dropped off truckloads of seasonal donations for our families this upcoming Halloween, Christmas and Easter. We love these post-holiday donations, as we can store the items and pull them out in the future to create amazing experiences for the kids! Thank you Michaels for your generosity ❤️
