Hearts for Homes Working to end child homelessness in Macomb County, Michigan This crisis is evidenced by the following disturbing facts.

Hearts for Homes (H4H) is a nonprofit organization established to to help end child homelessness in Macomb County, Michigan. There are over:

• 1,400 homeless children without a permanent home in Macomb County (not including their parents or siblings who are not attending school). This reflects a 154% increase since 2008-09.

• 21,000 very low and extremely low-income households that are one crisi

s away from homelessness as they pay more than half of their household income in housing related expenses! Hearts for Homes has adopted the “HOUSING FIRST” model that is being used across the country. This approach has proven effective at reducing homelessness and saving taxpayer dollars that would otherwise be used for incarceration and medical care for the homeless. The concept is that housing is the essential anchor needed for homeless families to successfully address the other challenges to gain greater economic stability. Once families have a safe and stable place to live, children perform better in school, and families can access needed services and more stable employment. Please consider becoming a “Heart Partner” by:

• Making a one-time contribution, a regular monthly donation, conducting a fund-raiser with your school, business, or faith-based organization
• Volunteering your gifts and talents to support assisted families
• Sharing this information with other groups and individuals to broaden support for our work
