Yesterday, members from local 838 had the distinct honor of escorting State Representative Denise Mentzer to the MPFFU convention in Muskegon so that she could be recognized for her continuous hard work she puts in for our union. Over the years, Representative Mentzer has secured well over $5 million in grants that have greatly benefited local 838 and the City of Mount Clemens. Please join us in congratulating State Representative Mentzer on a job well done!

MCFD Firefighters were dispatched for a vehicle fire at a gas station off North River Road. The 3 firefighters arrived to find a fully involved engine/passenger compartment fire on a plow/salt truck. Despite the snow, ice, and cold, a quick response was made and stopped the fire from getting to the nearby gas pumps and overhead power lines. This fire was extinguished with no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.

Last Friday, the 3 on duty firefighters were dispatched to a 2nd floor bathroom on fire. The crew arrived to find thick smoke and high heat banking down to the floor. An aggressive attack was made by a Mount Clemens Firefighter, with back up not far behind from Harrison Twp Firefighters. This kept the damage to a minimum and assured all occupants and pets were out of the home and safe. In all, 6 residents and multiple pets were displaced, nobody was injured. Working smoke detectors helped alert the family.
