Do you have a unique vehicle that you would be okay with Kids and Adults looking at?? On June 27th we are hosting a “Touch a Truck” Event in Mt. Carmel and we would love to have as many different type of vehicles involved for kids and adults. Please contact myself, Fire Captain Mark Seaton, Susan Zimmerman or Police Chief Erin Peach for more details.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to GWRPC for your assistance in securing this much-needed grant for turnout gear. Your support and dedication to helping our department obtain essential equipment are greatly appreciated.

We would also like to thank Chief Francis Speth for his assistance throughout the grant process. His efforts and support were instrumental in helping make this opportunity possible.

Thank you both for your commitment to improving firefighter safety and supporting our department.

Tonight, our hearts are heavy in Wabash County. We are grieving the tragic loss of a community member in a farming accident, and we are lifting up a young woman who was seriously injured in another accident. These moments shake us, remind us how fragile life is, and call us to stand together in prayer and support.

I’m asking our community to pause and lift these families up. Pray for comfort where there is heartbreak, strength where there is fear, and healing where there is pain. Pray for our first responders, our medical teams, and for every friend and loved one walking through these difficult hours.

In times like these, Wabash County shows its true character—compassion, unity, and unwavering care for one another. May God wrap His arms around all who are hurting tonight.

Today we celebrate the brave men and women who run toward danger when the rest of us run away. Our firefighters embody courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to protecting every corner of our community.

From late‑night calls to life‑saving rescues, from fire prevention education to standing by families on their hardest days—you are the quiet heroes who keep Wabash County safe.

Thank you for your service, your heart, and your dedication. We see you. We appreciate you. We stand with you.

Back from a great few days of meetings in Springfield. There are many potential new laws being discussed—some of which could significantly impact families and businesses in Mt. Carmel. I’m standing with the Illinois Municipal League to defend our communities and make sure decisions stay where they belong: close to home.

Taking local control away from local elected officials in putting it in the hands at the State level is not good for our communities.
