FYI: Starting the morning of Wednesday April 8 the Mount Ayr community building and post office parking lots will be getting resurfaced. Please refrain from parking and walking on the parking lots until the work is completed and parking lots are officially opened. To access the post office there is a grassy area to walk on west of post office entrance. Street parking is welcome.

We will hand out eggs at Community Center. Update: If it’s raining we will be at Community Center.
We will be doing a peanut butter drive for the local food pantry at the Easter Egg Hunt. There will be a box at each age group.

On Monday, March 23rd at 6:30 pm, Mount Ayr resident, Dan Thomas, will be recognized by State Representative Mike Aylesworth for Dan’s contributions to many historical preservation projects including the Scott Lucas House in Morocco and The Beacon…Mount Ayr’s own historic church building. The Morocco Knights of Pythias is hosting the event at the Beacon on Second Street in Mount Ayr. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony. Thanks, Dan for all you do to promote historic preservation in our own Newton county!!

We’re collecting donations to help our neighbors in Lake Village following the devastating tornado.

Please note: At this time, they are not accepting clothes, cash or gift cards.

The following items are currently needed:
• Bleach
• Garbage bags
• Buckets
• Shovels
• Wheelbarrows
• Rakes
• Cleaning supplies
• Nonperishable food items
• Toiletries
• Pet supplies
• Laundry detergent
• Hand tools

Donations can be dropped off at the Morocco American Legion Post 146 between 3:00 and 9:00 p.m. We will be accepting donations through Friday, 3/13, and members of the American Legion Auxiliary will deliver all collected items to the Lake Township Community Center on Saturday for distribution. You can also drop your donations off directly at the Lake Township Community Center.
