๐Ÿš‘ BIG NEWS FROM SCC EMS PROGRAM! ๐Ÿš‘

We're excited to introduce our NEW Advanced EMT & Paramedic Program Pathways beginning in 2027! ๐ŸŽ‰

Your future. Your choice.

We know every student's journey looks different. Some are ready to jump straight into Paramedic, while others want to earn their Advanced EMT, gain valuable field experience, and return to finish Paramedic later.

Now you can choose the path that fits YOUR life.

โœ”๏ธ Pathway 1 โ€“ Earn & Return
Complete Advanced EMT, build real-world experience, then come back later to finish Paramedic.

No matter which path you choose, you'll receive the same hands-on education, dedicated support, and commitment to your success that the SCC EMS Program is known for.

Please join us in congratulating our newest Advanced EMT graduates and 3 of North Carolina's newly credentialed Advanced EMT Providers! ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ”ฅ

This class officially completed the program on Monday, May 18th, and over the past week, every single student has passed the North Carolina AEMT Credentialing Exam on their FIRST attempt!

From long class days filled with skills labs and scenarios, to demanding online coursework, to 120 clinical hours in the Emergency Department and on the ambulance, this group showed determination, grit, and a true passion for EMS every step of the way. Their work ethic and dedication to patient care have been evident from day one, and we couldnโ€™t be more proud of what theyโ€™ve accomplished.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the true cost of freedom and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Their courage will never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, on EMS Recognition Day, we not only recognize the dedication and sacrifice of EMS professionals everywhere but also reflect on the history and growth of Emergency Medical Services in the United States.

Modern EMS has evolved tremendously over the last several decades, shaped by military medicine, community responders, and the landmark 1966 report โ€œAccidental Death and Disability: The Neglected Disease of Modern Society,โ€ which helped bring national attention to the need for organized emergency medical care. Since then, EMS professionals have become an essential part of healthcare and public safety โ€” providing lifesaving care, compassion, and reassurance during some of lifeโ€™s most critical moments.

At the Surry Community College Emergency Medical Program, we are proud to continue that tradition and deeply grateful for those who helped build the foundation before us. We would like to recognize and thank the former program directors, instructors, coordinators, and educators whose vision, leadership, and dedication helped shape this program and the countless EMS professionals who have come through it over the years. Your impact continues to be felt in classrooms, ambulances, hospitals, and communities every single day.

We are equally thankful for our current adjunct instructors and preceptors who continue that legacy by investing their time, knowledge, and mentorship into educating the next generation of EMS providers. Your dedication helps shape skilled, compassionate clinicians who will carry this profession forward.

Thank you to every EMR, EMT, Advanced EMT, Paramedic, dispatcher, educator, adjunct instructor, preceptor, past and current leaders, and first responder for the sacrifices you make and the lives you impact every day.

Happy EMS Recognition Day! ๐Ÿš‘
