Happy Labor Day!

Our front office is closed today, Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We’ll reopen Tuesday, September 8 at 8 AM.

As always, our officers are on duty 24/7 to help keep our community safe. For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, reach us at 651-484-9155.

Our hearts are with the Minneapolis Police Department, the officers injured while responding yesterday, and all those impacted by this tragic violence.

We grieve for the lives lost and stand with the victims, their families, and our Minneapolis PD colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. 💙

Join us on Friday, September 11 for an evening of remembrance, community, and a little friendly competition. 🥎

We’ll begin at 6:00 PM with the Tribute Park Public Safety Dedication, honoring and remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognizing the first responders and heroes who answered the call.

Then at 7:00 PM, stick around as Mounds View Police and SBM Fire take the field for a community softball game!

Today we’re recognizing Investigator Nick Erickson on 20 years of service with the Mounds View Police Department!

Nick joined MVPD in 2006 and has served our community in a number of roles throughout his career. One of his most memorable assignments was serving as the handler for Niko, MVPD’s first K9. After attending K9 Academy with the St. Paul Police Department, Nick and Niko began working together in 2012 and spent nearly a decade as partners.

During their time together, Nick and Niko assisted with numerous tracks and searches for missing persons, evidence, and suspects, while also helping safely apprehend dangerous individuals. The two became familiar faces throughout Mounds View, attending hundreds of community events and K9 demonstrations before Niko retired in 2021.

Nick’s career with MVPD has continued beyond his time as a K9 handler, and he now serves the department and community as an Investigator.

Congratulations, Nick, on 20 years with MVPD! Thank you for two decades of dedication and service to the Mounds View community.

We’ve received several reports of vehicle break-ins throughout Mounds View and are asking for the community’s help.

If you have security camera, doorbell camera, or other video footage from between 2:00–5:00 AM that may have captured suspicious activity or could assist us in identifying or tracking the suspects, please email it to Sgt. Schultes at [email protected].

If your vehicle was broken into or you need to make a report, please call our non-emergency number at 651-484-9155.

As a reminder, please lock your vehicles, remove valuables when possible, and never leave keys or other important items inside.

With school starting right around the corner, it’s time for a quick school bus safety reminder! 🚌🎒

As buses return to our roads, please stay alert—especially during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off.

🟡 Yellow flashing lights → Slow down and prepare to stop.

🔴 Red flashing lights + stop arm extended → STOP. Remain stopped until the stop arm is retracted and the red lights are off.

A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference. Let’s work together to keep our students safe this school year!

🎉 Thank You for a Great Festival in the Park! 🎉

What a fantastic Festival in the Park! We want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out last Saturday, August 22, and helped make the event such a success!

It was great seeing so many people stop by the Mounds View Police Department table to say hello, meet our officers, and spend some time chatting with us. We always enjoy getting the opportunity to connect with the community! 💙👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

The vendors and food trucks were fantastic! There was no shortage of great food, and fun activities throughout the day! 🌭🍔🎪

Our K9 demonstration was a HUGE hit! 🐾🚔 We had an amazing turnout of people who came to watch K9 Brandi and K9 Crash show off their skills. Thank you to everyone who came out to see our four-legged officers in action!

And, of course, we can't forget Chief Zender, who bravely climbed into the dunk tank to help cool things off! 😂 We think the community enjoyed that one just a little too much!

A special thank you also goes out to the Mounds View Police Foundation for their incredible support throughout the festival. The Foundation's table was busy, and it was great to see so many people pick up one of our plush K9s to take home! 🐕💙

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, supported the event, and helped make Festival in the Park such a memorable day. We are lucky to have such an amazing community!

We can't wait to see everyone again next year! 🎉🐾💙

🎉 MOUNDS VIEW FESTIVAL IN THE PARK PARADE — TONIGHT! 🎉

The parade starts TONIGHT at 6:00 PM, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone out enjoying the Mounds View Festival in the Park! 🇺🇸🎈

🚨 Please plan ahead! Road closures will begin at 5:30 PM to allow for parade preparations and to help keep participants and spectators safe.

📍 The parade route will travel along Hillview Road and Jackson Drive, with additional closures along the route. Please refer to the attached map for the full parade route and closure areas.

👮‍♀️ Mounds View Police Department officers will be out helping manage traffic and keep everyone safe. Please follow posted detours, obey officers and barricades, and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.

If you're coming to watch the parade:

Arrive early and find a safe place to watch.
Keep children with you and away from the roadway.
Never move or go around barricades.
Be patient with traffic and expect delays.
