Work on the City's water infrastructure continues, and moves into the Stage 1 area through September and October. Here's what residents should know this week about this work:
- Stage 3: Paving and concrete work will continue as work wraps up in this area.
- Stage 2: Connection to permanent water services is occurring. Once testing is complete, new services will be live.
- Stage 1: Connection to temporary water main will begin and work in this section will start through September.

Next weekend, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close Eastbound I-394. Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, Sept. 11, the eastbound I-394 ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed through 5 a.m. Mon, Sept. 14. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Hwy 169, I-694 and eastbound I-94.

Tonight the Mound City Council will review the final plans and construction documents for the proposed Water Treatment Plant and vote on whether or not to send the project out for bids.

Sending the project out for bids is similar to getting a quote or estimate from interested contractors. This does not obligate the City to accept bids but gives the Council more information on the project's cost.

Construction continues on the City's water infrastructure project. Here's what residents need to know for this upcoming week:

-Stage 3: All mainline work has been installed in front of Surfside Park. Patching along the road in this area is temporary and the contractor will be out to replace this.
-Stage 2: Work is ongoing to install the new hydrants and fire services to select properties.

You might ask "Why is my water discolored?" or "Why does hydrant flushing cause water discoloration?"
➡️ Water in Mound is not treated to remove minerals like iron, which can cause build up in the City's infrastructure and in your home pipes.
➡️Iron which is safe to drink can stain your home water fixture and cause discolored water.
➡️The ongoing water treatment infrastructure project replaces these pipes in preparation for a Water Treatment Plant which would remove minerals and containments like iron and manganese.
➡️If a Water Treatment Plant is constructed residents could see clearer water in just a few years

Work continues on the City's water infrastructure. Here's what residents need to know this week:

- Stage 4: Landscaping and final punch list items should be completed this week.
- Stage 3: Paving completed in this area will be completed by Friday and traffic lanes will be moved to the west side of the road. Monday crews will be working on the east side of the road in front of Surfside Park.
- Stage 2: Work on water services continues, including continued pipe work and hydrant work.
