This weekend, members from multiple stations within the Colquitt County Fire Association , along with personnel from the Moultrie Fire Department, came together to participate in a 3-day vehicle extrication course. These trained extrication teams are strategically placed throughout the county to help ensure a rapid and effective response to serious motor vehicle accidents involving entrapment.

Day 1 focused on classroom instruction, covering the mechanics of cutting apart modern vehicles, vehicle stabilization, safety considerations during extrication operations, traffic incident safety, teamwork, and patient care considerations during rescue operations.

Days 2 and 3 were dedicated to hands-on training. Day 2 began with tool familiarization and progressed into scenario-based group training. Day 3 was an intensive hands-on training day, where multiple groups rotated through numerous staged scenarios. Teams were required to assess the situation, formulate an extrication plan, and then safely and efficiently execute that plan.

This type of training provides our extrication teams across the county with the most current knowledge and techniques available to help free victims trapped in mangled vehicles as quickly and safely as possible.

Last weekend, firefighters from across the county participated in a pressurized container firefighting class. This type of training is extremely important due to the number of propane tanks, industrial cylinders, fuel containers, and other pressurized vessels encountered during emergencies. These incidents can quickly become dangerous for both firefighters and the public if not handled properly. The class focused on recognizing hazards, understanding container behavior under fire conditions, cooling techniques, safe operational tactics, and protecting surrounding exposures during these high-risk incidents.

Today, Station 12 B shift and Station 41 had a great time attending Field Day at Cox Elementary! Our crews were proud to help the students cool off by spraying water and bringing some extra fun to an exciting day.

Events like this are a great reminder that the fire service is about more than emergency response — it’s about building relationships, supporting our community, and creating positive memories with the next generation.

Thank you to Cox Elementary for inviting us out and allowing us to be part of such a fun event. We appreciate the opportunity for community outreach and look forward to continuing to serve and connect with the people we protect every day.

On Sunday May 10th 2026 Colquitt County Fire responded to a single story agriculture structure fire with extension.

🔥 7:18 PM Stations 71,12,31,22, and 21 responded to a report of a single story structure fire on Howard Rowland Road. The first unit arrived on scene to find a barn with heavy smoke and flames showing along with extension into a silo and pickup truck. An aggressive fire attack was made. Colquitt County EMS assisted.

On Friday May 8th, 2026 Colquitt County Fire responded to a single story residential structure fire.

🔥 6:29 PM Stations 31,12,11,61, and 42 responded to a report of a single story structure fire on Southern Trail. The first unit arrived on scene to find a single story house with smoke showing on the Alpha Bravo corner. The bulk of the fire was knocked down by the homeowner using a fire extinguisher prior to fire department arrival. Crews pulled a hose line for overhaul operation’s and to spray hot spots. Colquitt County EMS and Colquitt County Sheriffs Office assisted.

Over the past several days, Colquitt County firefighters have deployed to the wildfires east of us to assist with containment efforts and the protection of a variety structures in the fire’s path. Each day, we have sent an apparatus with personnel from multiple stations across the county. Our firefighters have worked extremely hard to help our neighbors during this challenging time.

We are proud to have been able to assist, and even more proud to have these dedicated men and women as part of our organization. We are sharing a few photos below from our crews to highlight some of the experiences and work they have been a part of.

We would also like to mention that while assisting others, our own county has remained extremely busy. Over the past week, we have set records for the number of fire calls handled in a single day.

As we continue through these extreme drought conditions, we ask everyone to use extreme caution and to continue following the state burn ban until it is officially lifted.

On Friday April 24th 2026 Colquitt County Fire responded to a single story residential structure fire.

🔥 7:00 PM Multiple Stations and Moultrie Fire Department Station 2 responded to a report of a single story structure fire on Lakespring Drive. The first unit arrived on scene to find a single story house with heavy fire showing. An aggressive interior fire attack was made initially but due to deteriorating conditions crews transitioned to a defensive attack. Colquitt County EMS and Colquitt County Sheriffs Office assisted.

Today, the Colquitt County Fire Association is deploying one fire engine staffed with two of our firefighters, along with four firefighters from the City of Moultrie, as a unified team to assist with the wildfires east of our area.

We are proud and fortunate to be in a position to send resources to help during this ongoing emergency. These fires have placed a tremendous strain on the communities affected and on the firefighters who have been battling them for days on end.

Please keep our firefighters traveling to assist in your prayers, and also remember the crews already on the front lines working tirelessly to contain these fires and protect lives and property. We pray for their safety, strength, and safe return home.

Last week, the Colquitt County Board of Commissioners asked residents to stop outdoor burning because of the drought.
