๐ŸŽ‰ Join us in congratulating our newly promoted officers! ๐ŸŽ‰

The Moultrie Police Department proudly recognizes three outstanding officers whose dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have earned them well-deserved promotions.

First, please join us in congratulating Sergeant Jose Martes on his promotion from Corporal to Sergeant. Since beginning his law enforcement career in 2022, Sgt. Martes has distinguished himself through hard work, leadership, and a commitment to professional growth. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice and has completed more than 859 hours of professional development and specialized training. We are excited to see him continue to lead and mentor others in his new role.

We also congratulate Sergeant Shawn Salsman on his promotion from Officer to Sergeant. Sgt. Salsman has served as a police officer since 2021, following his service as a corrections officer. A dedicated member of our patrol division and current K-9 handler, he has accumulated an impressive 1,463 hours of advanced and specialized law enforcement training. His work ethic, initiative, and commitment to public safety make him an outstanding addition to our supervisory team.

Finally, congratulations to Lieutenant Dylan Thompson on his promotion from Sergeant to Lieutenant. Since becoming a police officer in 2017, Lt. Thompson has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and professionalism. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice, as well as both his Intermediate and Advanced Certifications. With more than 1,210 hours of advanced and specialized law enforcement training, Lt. Thompson has continually invested in his development and the success of those around him. His promotion reflects years of hard work and dedication to serving our community.

These promotions represent more than rank; they represent a commitment to leadership, service, and the continued pursuit of excellence. We are proud of each of these officers and grateful for their dedication to the citizens of Moultrie.
Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Martes, Sgt. Salsman, and Lt. Thompson on this significant achievement!

Honoring the life and legacy of former Moultrie City Councilman, Mr. LaMonte Alderman, Sr.
LaMonte served District 1, Post 2, from 1994 to 2002.
We are saddened to hear of Mr. Aldermanโ€™s passing and wanted to share a couple of significant photos from his time of service.
In the first accompanying photo, circa 1999, LaMonte sits with fellow leaders from the city council, county commissioners, state legislators, and state DOT officials, marking a historic milestone, the award of our first $1 million grant for downtown streetscape and courthouse square improvements. This significant event began the transformation of Downtown.
The second photo shows the city council during his time of service, including former City Manager Tony Rojas; Councilman Cecil Barber; Mayor Bill McIntosh; former Councilman Sherrod McCall; the late Councilman Wayne Cooper; the late Councilman Mr. George Walker; and former Councilman Lewis Herndon.
LaMonte's dedication to Moultrie will never be forgotten.
