Ag students had a great first week! On Thursday, each class was tasked with putting together a paper chain of terms that related to their specific class! Then, they had to find a word on another classes chain that related to their own, and build their chain from that link! This showed students that even though we have different classes and topics, agriculture is all related! Each color chain is a different ag class!🐮🌽

Miss Deahl’s AFNR class recently wrapped up a unit on injection methods in livestock!💉🐮
Today, they were able to put their knowledge to the test and practice giving intramuscular, intravenous, and subcutaneous injections, and learn about needle safety! The used a sponge (muscle), felt (hair/skin), and a straw filled with red dye (vein/blood) to practice intravenous and intramuscular, used a banana to practice intramuscular, and an orange to practice subcutaneous!

We had a GREAT time at Ag Day!🐮🐷🚜
Elementary students were able to rotate through 6 stations led by FFA Members, and then were able to go look at all the animals and machinery!

🌽Ag Commodity Match - students had to guess and match which everyday products came from what ag product, and learned about other items they use everyday and how they relate to ag!

🐑Sheep Wool - kids were able to feel 4 different kinds of wool, learn about wool vs hair sheep, and learn about shearing!

🍳Egg Grading - students learned about the different types of grades in eggs, what you commonly find in the store, and got to grade their own egg!

🐣Chick Life Cycle - students learned about the chick life cycle and how to care for them! They then got to take a picture with the chicks that were hatched right here in the Ag Classroom!

🧀🥛Milk & Cheese Tasting - students tried 4 different cheeses, and 4 different milks, even goat milk! They compared all the flavors and learned about dairy cattle and dairy goats.

🌻🌱Seed Planting - kids leaned about sunflowers and parts of a plant, and then decorated their own cup and planted their own sunflower seed!

Special thanks to Farm Bureau for donating chips for lunch, Hy-Vee for donating water and apples, and the Appanoose County Cattleman’s Association for coming out to grill hamburgers!

We had a great time last week at the State FFA Convention!💙💛

Sariah, Madysen, Lily, and Miah put together a chapter display, and received a Silver!

Porter, Kenzie, Delaney, and Wyatt competed in Ag Sales. They had to give a team presentation, an individual sale, and take a test! As a team, they plaved 45th out of 78 teams and received a Silver. On the testing portion, they placed 5th out of the 78 teams!
