The Rocket City Trash Pandas are partnering with Food City to host a summer reading event at Toyota Field, and we would like to invite our local libraries to participate!

Books on the Berm will be held on June 12 and July 17 from 10:30-11:30AM.

This is a FREE, family-friendly event! We want to encourage young readers to continue their reading year-round.

Dig into adventure this summer with the Lawrence County Public Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story.”

Free weekly programs, featured presenters, prizes, and reading incentives for children from toddlers through seventh grade begin July 7 at the Moulton Middle School Gym.

Registration will take place at the library June 29 through July 3.

Today Mr. Larry read “Jonah and the Big Fish” by Tess Fries. Afterwards, the kids decorated fish bowls with sea life stickers and worked on their May calendars. We had a great time learning and creating together!

Today we read “Wonder Walkers” by Micha Archer. The kids celebrated Scavenger Hunt Day (May 24) with a fun scavenger hunt planned by Mr. Larry, and they had a blast searching for clues! Afterwards, they made toilet tube bumble bees and worked on their June calendars. It was a fun-filled day at the library!

The Lawrence County Public Library will be closed Monday, May 25 through Friday, May 29 for a scheduled budget closure. We will reopen Monday, June 1 at 9:30 a.m.

During the closure:
• The outside book drop will be locked and closed
• Camellia.Net and Comics Plus will remain available
• No overdue fines will accrue

The Lawrence County Public Library anticipates opening late on Monday, May 18, 2026.

At this time, we anticipate opening to the public at 12:00 p.m.

This delayed opening is due to temporary staffing limitations.

If circumstances allow, the library may open earlier than announced.

As it is the policy of the Lawrence County Public Library to close with the Lawrence County, Alabama Schools during periods of inclement weather, the library will be closing at 12:30 p.m. today. No fines will accrue today.
