🚨 BIG NEWS COMING TO MOULTON, ALABAMA!

This summer, Casey Hunter, owner of Valley Stockyard, will officially be opening an all-new beef-focused restaurant concept- The Cattlemen’s Kitchen- right here in Moulton, Alabama! Target date of opening is July 15th!(this could change slightly)

With Mel’s Steakhouse, which has been a community staple for many years, closing its doors on June 15th, we sincerely appreciate the chance to continue serving right beside the stockyard.

~ WHERE PREMIUM BEEF MEETS SOUTHERN COMFORT:

At The Cattlemen’s Kitchen, we will offer a large selection of premium beef, including Certified Angus Beef (CAB), USDA prime cut dry-aged ribeyes, and prime filets. We will also offer more affordable cuts, hamburger steaks, juicy burgers, and more.

Our delicious entrées will be paired with homemade Southern sides, just like Grandma used to make- bringing that down-home comfort to your plate. We will also offer a fresh, crisp salad bar.

~ WHAT SEPARATES US FROM THE HERD:

Prime beef is the highest quality grade available, known for its marbling, tenderness, and flavor. Dry-aging enhances that even further, delivering a richer, more intense steak experience not often found in North Alabama.

This isn’t a chain. It’s built on real experience in the cattle/ beef industry. Casey Hunter knows beef because it’s her life. She and her husband Blake operate Valley Stockyard, and now that expertise is coming straight to your plate.

Casey believes Moulton deserves top-quality steaks and rare cuts of beef, paired with a warm, nostalgic stockyard diner atmosphere. Our vision brings back memories of past stockyard cafés- where folks gathered over hearty meals, honest conversations, and that unmistakable small-town charm.

On June 15th, we'll begin refreshing the restaurant space. We'll also be working hard to secure all health inspections, business licenses, and requirements, so please keep us in your prayers that it all goes smoothly! As we add our touches, we'll keep you updated every step of the way.

We can’t wait to offer a cozy, nostalgic stockyard steakhouse filled with small-town charm, exceptional food, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Praise the Lord for this rain! We’ve been needing it, and we’re so thankful to see it soaking in. 🌾🙏🏻

It’s the simple things- like watching our cattle spread out and graze after a long-awaited rain- that remind us of God’s blessings. Feeling extra grateful tonight for this rural lifestyle & for the opportunity to raise my kids in the stockyard industry that we love!! 🐂

🔥🐂 We had a great Memorial Day Weekend Special Stock Cow Sale Friday night (May 22nd) at Valley Stockyard in Moulton, Alabama! We ended up with right at 740 head total.

We had a large selection of top-quality replacement cattle. They sold excellent from start to finish, as these kind are hard to find.

✅ The top end of our bred cows brought from $3,700 to $4,900.

✅ The top end of our pairs brought from $5,200 to $6,600.

✅ The red baldy heifers, put with a bull in January and confirmed pregnant, averaged $4,000 per head.

✅ The 60 heifers brought from $3,300 to $3,400. They sold as exposed for 60 days only.

✅ We had several good breeding bulls, without papers in hand, bring from $4500- 6800.

We made sure the sale was solid from start to finish and that everyone’s weigh cows at the end brought market price- we had cull cows up to $1.985/ lb.

We are so grateful- thanks to all of our buyers and consignors for trusting us. We sincerely appreciate your business!

A special thanks to all of our employees for the hard hours spent making sure this sale ran smoothly. A lot goes into these special sales. I know Blake, myself, and others stayed Wednesday night after our regular sale sorting and pairing cattle that came in early until 3:30 a.m., Thursday night sorting, pairing, preg checking/ aging, and grouping until at least 2 a.m., and we stayed all night Friday after the sale until 10 a.m. Saturday making sure every animal was in the right pen and had water. Even though it’s tough work, it’s what we love- especially me, because the stock cow portion is my favorite!😂

We’re just so thankful for everyone involved. Thanks for making it an awesome sale!!! 🇺🇸

Good evening, cattlemen! ☀️🐮 HERE IS INFO ABOUT OUR UPCOMING SALE!!!

We are excited about our Memorial Day Weekend Special Stock Cow Sale tomorrow night, May 22nd at 6 P.M.! 🇺🇸

We have a GREAT lineup of consignments for this sale & are now expecting 550+ grown cows plus calves. We will be posting a full, updated list of consignments sometime tonight or tomorrow, so keep an eye out!

This lineup of cattle is absolutely the nicest overall that we have had since Blake and I took over the barn. There are LOTS OF TOP-QUALITY cows and heifers that are going to be in this sale and the quality is going to be excellent through the whole sale.

We are doing things a little differently for this stock cow sale:

We are beginning the sale with the first consignment of 27 head of fancy heifer pairs and bred heifers. From there, we will move through the consignments one group at a time, finishing up each farmer’s cattle before moving on to the next. Any cows that are worth more by the pound(open cows, big old short bred cows, crippled cows etc) will be pulled off of each consignment and sold at the end of the sale in a mixed pen with multiple sellers’ cattle. We will also be selling head calves and weigh calves at the end of the sale.

Before each consignment starts, we will announce all of the information given to us by the seller, including vaccination programs, feed programs, genetics, sire information, and any other details provided on the cattle. All cows will also be aged and preg-checked by a licensed veterinarian before selling.

WE WILL BE PRINTING OUT A SHEET WITH SALE ORDER AND INFO ABOUT EACH CONSIGNMENT AND WILL HAVE THEM AVAILABLE FOR OUR ATTENDEES.

We will try our best to sell consignments in the order they were presented to us, not based on when they arrived at our barn. We absolutely promise that we will do our very best to keep things flowing smoothly and be completely fair to everyone. One thing we truly take pride in is that cattle at our barn sell just as well at the end of the sale as they do at the beginning. So if your cattle are not in the very front, don’t worry- we will keep prices solid throughout. We want both happy buyers and happy sellers!!!

There are going to be LOTS of good bulls in this sale! We will have several young Angus bulls, along with many other quality bulls throughout. Most of these bulls had registration papers but they will be sold with out them for various reasons.

If you are interested in buying and haven’t bought with us before, please stop by our office to register. We do not have buyer numbers so you can just tell the auctioneer your last name if you get winning bid.

Please bear with us, as we will have a barn full of cattle. We can not load anyone out until the sale is over. You are welcome to leave your cattle until Saturday- an employee or Blake & I will be at the barn from 7 a.m. until all the cattle are gone. We will put all cattle on water until the next day, and on hay if we have room in our feed pens. We also have lots of folks that haul for us so if you need your cattle hauled, just see someone in the office and they will line that up.
