Hettinger County Emergency Management has had lots of recent questions regarding our current burn restrictions. So, I want to provide some quick answers to common questions we are getting.

1. Hettinger County does not have a total burn ban in place.
2. Most days there are no burn restrictions in place.
3. The state determines the fire risk each day, which includes many factors, not just wind.
4. The daily fire danger and online resources are provided by the state at: https://www.ndresponse.gov/burn-restrictions-fire-danger-maps
5. You must check this website each day to get up to date fire danger and the restrictions for that day. It changes every day.
6. All of this is done to ensure you can still do controlled burns on days it is safe to do so.

Today we are in moderate fire danger, which means there are no burn restrictions in place in Hettinger County. Beyond the ND Century Code laws, all of North Dakota is always subject to.

🚨🚨Due to a water main leak South of the Dickinson Airport requiring emergency repairs, Southwest Water Authority is requesting that customers reduce non-essential water use until repairs are complete. Conserving water during this time helps maintain adequate system pressure and supports uninterrupted service for all customers. This leak will leave many customers with a temporary loss of water or low pressure. We are working to restore service as quickly as possible, but this leak repair is expected to continue into Sunday, August 23rd. Thank you for your assistance. 🚨🚨
