We’re still here! We haven’t disappeared and are still out here serving our community. We’ve been grinding away at the first few months of the year with strategic planning, operational planning and getting the year started right with training and keeping our equipment clean, serviced and ready to go!

Here’s a brief photo collage of what we’ve been up to:

We want to share a very pertinent message from our friends at Boone County Water Rescue Team. Ice related incidents are becoming increasingly more common as this weather persists!!

Don’t let frigid temperatures fool you into thinking frozen lakes or ponds are safe.

When snow covers the ice, it can actually make conditions more dangerous. Snow acts as an insulator, slowing ice formation, and the added weight can push the ice down—creating weak, slushy areas. That’s why some people are seeing water coming up through cracks or holes.

Please stay off the ice. When walking in unfamiliar areas, be mindful that snow-covered ground could be hiding a pond or body of water.

If a person or pet falls through the ice, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not attempt a rescue yourself.

Here are some winter safety tips from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Winter activity safety is the most important issue to keep in mind, especially around ice.

HO HO HO!! Santa made an early visit to personally check some names on his list. He arrived in a fire truck with red emergency lights instead of a red nosed reindeer because Santa knew the fire truck could get him where he needed to be!!
