I want to thank all the University of Idaho students that came to the open forum! I appreciate your thought-provoking questions and your passion for voicing your concerns. “As a student at the University of Idaho, as well as an ASUI cabinet member, I would like to voice my support for Sierra Rothermich running for ASUI senate. For as long as I’ve known Sierra, she has always been a selfless, driven and caring woman. I believe her ideals can make a change this university is desperately in need of to improve moral and let the student body’s voice be heard. Through her effective strategies of collaboration, communication and transparency our students will experience a safer, positively driven environment that will aid us in becoming a unified and successful student body.”

My platform is built on three foundations — collaboration, communication and transparency.

Collaboration
Students need a stronger, more collaborative support system to deliver opportunities and tools to better guide them to future success. I plan to achieve this by working closely with facility senators to improve collaboration between students and advisors during the class registration process. I want to increase collaboration with Vandal Alumni and public figures, so students can build career connections.

Communication
The key to enhancing student’s success is to strengthen communication between students and administration. Student’s voices must be heard, so the administration can have a clear picture of how to improve the university. I want to create tactics to build effective communication so the administration will hear the students. This means increasing student’s engagement with surveys on VandalSync and implementing a more collaborative approach to living group reports.

Transparency
I want to implement strategies that will increase transparency and make students more aware of campus resources that protect and support them, like working with Career Services to inform students of the help and opportunities provided. I aim to combat sexual harassment and assault issues by working with the Women’s Center to implement programs that foster a safe environment for students.

As your senator, my mission will be to promote these values by helping to build an inclusive environment that reaches out to all students and connects their message to administrators, so we can work together to build a better University and brighter future for everyone.
