Latah County is hosting a community meeting at 7pm tonight in the Potlatch Senior Center, 645 Pine St, Potlatch to answer questions about the Latah Broadband project being constructed in our county this year. The project includes middle mile connections between communities in Latah County as well as fiber to individual homes. Upon completion of construction, the infrastructure will be available for internet service providers to provide competitive services to customers within the project. The Latah County Broadband Project is funded through a federal grant administered by the Idaho Office of Broadband.

Project partner staff will be available to present information and answer questions.

Latah County is hiring for the Chief Information Officer position. This is a great opportunity to work with the county departments for their technology needs, improve processes, and support impactful projects that serve our residents.

This position is a full time regular FLSA exempt position. The CIO is responsible for developing, modifying and implementing Information Technology Services for county offices under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners, including the coordination, planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of county computer technology; manage the department budget; coordinate programs and provide assistance to system users; and coordinate computer technology services of all county offices.

Latah County offices are closed today in honor of President's Day. Latah County was created by an act of Congress signed by President Grover Cleveland on May 14, 1888 (shown here). Our county holds the unique distinction of being the only county in the United States created by an act of Congress. It was carved out of the northern part of Nez Perce County.
