The Quin-T Democrat Club is the oldest currently operating Democrat club in Clermont County. Nearly five decades ago, all fourteen townships in Clermont County, Ohio had their own Democrat Clubs. These clubs faded into history as their members took up more centralized activism in the Clermont County Democratic Party, county and state candidates' campaigns, and local groups dedicated to various pro

gressive issues. Five Townships; Ohio, Monroe, Bethel-Tate, Washington and Franklin, banded their Democrat Clubs together and the result is a group that still flourishes today as Quin-T. The name is derived from Quin, meaning five, with a T representing townships. Past presidents include Paul Campbell, Evelyn Zimmerman, Constance Lighthall, Charlie Green, Bobbi Kuhn, Raymond Lembke, and Micheall Reed. From 2000-2009, under the leadership of Paul Campbell, Quin-T hosted the “Annual Feast on the River”. Over the span of ten years the Feast raised just over $100,000. All the money went to local and statewide candidates. As volunteers dwindled and members moved on, the Feast ended. The Club hosted the the Annual Quin-T Fall Dinner at the Grant Career Center in Bethel, Ohio on the first Thursday of October. The dinner hosts an average of one hundred attendees and has had strong support from local unions. Guest speakers have included Ted Strickland, former governor of Ohio; Aftab Pureval, Hamilton County Clerk of Courts; Emilia Sykes, Ohio House Minority Leader and Judge Michael P. Donnelly, Ohio Supreme Court Justice. Unfortunately in 2020 we were unable to continue our annual dinner tradition. We instead hosted a fundraiser celebrating the 100th year of women's right to vote at Harmony Hill Vineyards in Bethel. We were able to donate $150 to each of our Democratic candidates in Clermont County and to Judge Brunner and Judge O'Donnell the two Democratic candidates for Ohio Supreme Court. We also donated $250 to the New Richmond Food Pantry

The purpose of the club is not merely to raise money, but also to raise awareness of Democratic issues and increase the involvement of local Democratic activists in Clermont County politics. In recent years Quin-T has initiated an Adopt A Highway program placing Quin-T Democrat Club signs on US52 in New Richmond, rented a booth at the New Richmond River Days festival, volunteered at the Clermont County Fair, hosted the Quin-T Annual Fall Dinner and collaborated with the Clermont County Democratic Party, the West Clermont Democratic Club and the Clermont County Young Democrats to further awareness of progressive issues in the county. Many members have run for public office as well. Although the name of the club implies restricted membership to the five townships all are welcome no matter where you live. The annual dues to join is $12. Meetings are suspended until further notice due to the pandemic.
