This summer, TJ McLean is gaining hands-on experience as a Forestry Technician with the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL). Originally from Sun Valley, Idaho, TJ is entering his senior year as a Forestry major at the University of Idaho’s College of Natural Resources.

From working in Idaho’s forests to applying concepts learned in the classroom, TJ is building the skills needed to help manage and conserve the state's natural resources. Experiences like these provide students with valuable opportunities to connect their education to real-world forestry practices while exploring future career paths.

We're excited to see all that TJ accomplishes this summer. Keep up the great work, TJ! 🌲

This past May students in FISH 422: Concepts of Aquaculture showcased the culmination of their semester by preparing and sharing a variety of farm-raised fish from Idaho and around the world with the community.

The event gave students the opportunity to apply what they learned throughout the course while engaging with community members through a hands-on tasting experience. From understanding how fish are produced to sharing the final product, students brought the concepts of aquaculture full circle.

This successful event also highlighted the collaborative spirit of the University of Idaho, bringing together the College of Natural Resources and the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences for an educational—and delicious—experience.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success!
