Press Release

Moscow Rural Fire District Reflects on a Successful 2025 and Looks Ahead to 2026

Moscow, ID – Members, spouses, and special guests of the Moscow Rural Fire District (MRFD) recently gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of 2025, recognize outstanding volunteers, and look forward to an exciting year ahead in 2026.

The year 2025 saw the MRFD respond to 143 calls for service, including 15 mutual aid requests to neighboring fire departments. The district’s 28 dedicated volunteers contributed an impressive total of 1,183 hours toward training and community outreach.

Longevity Awards:
In recognition of their years of service, several MRFD members were honored with longevity awards:

Scott Fleischman – 5 years of service

Tyler McGee – 5 years of service

Greg Thomas – 20 years of service

Keith Crossler – 25 years of service

Darin Ery – 30 years of service

John Maurin – 30 years of service

Firefighter of the Year:
The Firefighter of the Year award for 2025 was presented to Kyle Allison, who has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership in the field. This award is voted on by the volunteers of the MRFD.

Looking Ahead to 2026:
As MRFD looks toward the upcoming year, it is excited to announce several initiatives for 2026. Beginning in February, the district will host a Firefighter 1 Training Class for MRFD members and those from neighboring departments. This training opportunity will be offered at little to no cost to local departments and will be conducted by certified instructors and MRFD personnel.

Additionally, the MRFD has successfully acquired a structure slated for demolition. On January 4th, the district conducted a controlled burn of the building, providing valuable training experience for its members while assisting the property owner with the demolition.
