🔥 BURN RESTRICTIONS LIFTED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 🔥
The Brooks County Fire Department announces that burn restrictions for Brooks County have been lifted effective immediately due to the recent rainfall and improved weather conditions across the area.
Residents may now resume outdoor burning activities; however, we strongly encourage everyone to continue using extreme caution and safe burning practices at all times. Even with recent rain, dry vegetation and changing weather conditions can still create dangerous fire situations if burns are not properly monitored.
Before conducting any outdoor burning, please take the following safety precautions:
✅ Always remain with your fire until it is completely extinguished
✅ Keep a water hose, buckets of water, or other firefighting tools nearby
✅ Clear the area around the burn site of dry grass, leaves, and debris
✅ Do not burn during windy or dry conditions
✅ Keep fires a safe distance away from homes, vehicles, fences, woods, and other structures
✅ Avoid burning large piles that cannot be safely controlled
✅ Make sure all fires are fully extinguished before leaving the area
The Brooks County Fire Department also reminds residents to follow all Georgia Forestry Commission regulations and local ordinances regarding outdoor burning. Certain materials remain prohibited from being burned, including household garbage, tires, hazardous materials, and other unlawful items.
As conditions continue to change throughout the season, burn restrictions may be reinstated if necessary to protect lives, property, and natural resources.
We appreciate the cooperation and support of our community during the recent burn restrictions and thank everyone for helping keep Brooks County safe.
If you experience an emergency or an out-of-control fire, call 911 immediately 🚨
