Today we had a surprise visitor! We found a garter snake outside of the center and Miss Katie brought it inside for the students to observe safely from a critter container. All the children did an excellent job having very quiet voices not scare the snake. We talked about that it was the first time the snake had ever been to school, so we wanted to show it how nice everyone is. We learned about how it hears, what it eats, where it lives, and the colors and patterns. Our young school agers were very excited to draw pictures of it. Our preschoolers wanted to pick out good snake names. Our toddlers practiced making the sssss sound. After everyone had a chance to observe the snake it was released back into its natural habitat (a little farther away from the center and Miss Tina!) We love learning about nature.
