The Morro Bay Police Department (MBPD) provides 24 hours a day, 7 days a week law enforcement services to the City. PERSONNEL
First organized in 1965, the MBPD currently consists of the following personnel:

- Police Chief Jody Cox
- Commander Amy Watkins
- Support Services Manager Bonnie Johnson
- Five Sergeants
- One Detectives
- Ten Officers (Including four Senior Officers)
- One Part-Time Evidence/Property Technician
- One Full-Time and One Part-Time Records Clerks
- One Part-Time Training Coordinator


COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Department is highly active in the community and sponsors an annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner, and annual Caroling Cop Cars event. PROGRAMS
The MBPD enjoys a variety of programs, including:

- Police Volunteer Program with approximately 30 involved volunteers
- Police Explorer Program for area youth
- Active Neighborhood Watch Program, which further promotes community partnership
- Friends of Morro Bay Police Department, a non-profit group formed in 2007 to further promote and assist the MBPD
