Town of Morristown Earns National "Election Excellence Certified in Plain Language" Designation
We are excited to share that the Town of Morristown is now Election Excellence Certified in Plain Language. This certification from the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence recognizes election offices that meet national benchmarks for high-quality election administration, and reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening operations and running secure elections that Morristown voters can trust.
Over the past 18 months, the Town Clerk’s Office staff collaborated with national communications experts and municipal clerks nationwide to master and implement plain language best practices. The goal of this effort is to ensure every voter understands the election process clearly and feels completely confident in town operations. While the training focused on election integrity and voter accessibility, these plain language standards are now being incorporated into all daily communications across both the Town Clerk and Treasurer offices.
The certification process involved auditing existing materials, streamlining voter instructions, and redesigning public notices to ensure information is direct, easy to navigate, and accessible to all residents.
