Here are programs that can help Lamoille County residents and how to get connected:

3SquaresVT. Vermont's food benefits program, for help affording groceries month to month. Apply online, by phone, or in person. Most decisions come within 30 days.

Lamoille Community Food Share. Free groceries, no appointment required, open to anyone in Lamoille County. 197 Harrell Street, Morrisville.

Salvation Farms. Vermont-grown produce rescued and redirected to families who need it.

WIC. Nutrition support for pregnant people and families with children under 5.

Thank you to everyone who came out for Saturday's Firewood Project volunteer day! Together, we loaded, processed, and delivered 24 cords of firewood to neighbors across Lamoille County who need it to stay warm this winter 🪵🔥

A special thanks to Three Mountain Roofing , the Lamoille Boys Basketball team, the LU Girls Basketball Team, Cambridge Area Rotary , and All Saints' Catholic Academy for showing up and putting in the work. And to the many individuals who gave their Saturday morning to this project, thank you for showing up for your neighbors.

Before a family finds stable housing, there's usually a long road behind them.

Wanda Audet, our Family Supportive Housing Program Manager, knows that road well. One family she worked with had gone two years without electricity or water in their old rental, then eviction, then two more years without a home at all.

When they came to the program, there was a lot standing in the way, including money owed on the old rental, a credit and rental history working against them, a budget that needed a real reset.

Wanda and the family worked through it, piece by piece. And today, that family has been stably housed for several months now and are doing well.

Every Vermonter deserves a warm place to sleep. For families, elders, and veterans across Lamoille County, that starts with something as simple as firewood 🔥

The Firewood Project exists because volunteers show up to split, stack, and deliver wood to neighbors who need it most. It is physical work, it is often overlooked, and it makes a direct, immediate difference for someone's winter.

None of what United Way of Lamoille County does for our neighbors would be possible without our volunteers. Since 2008, hundreds of community members have shown up to split, stack, and deliver firewood so that families, elders, and veterans across Lamoille County can stay warm through the winter.

These photos span across different years and different faces, but the same generosity showing up again and again. To everyone who has ever picked up a splitter, loaded a truck, or spent a Saturday morning at our wood lot: thank you!

Every winter, the Firewood Project helps ensure that elders, veterans, and families across Lamoille County have the heat they need to get through the cold months. This program only continues because volunteers show up to make it happen.

We are preparing for our next volunteer day on Saturday, September 12th, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at our wood lot, 595 Bridge Street in Morrisville. We are looking for volunteers who can help split, stack, and deliver wood, and we could especially use support from anyone with a splitter, chainsaw, dump truck, or trailer.

We are currently hiring for a full-time Director of Operations!

This role is vital to our work, as it supports the financial, hiring, and business operations that keep United Way of Lamoille County running. The Director of Operations will oversee day-to-day finances and budgeting, support hiring and HR functions, manage office operations and vendor relationships, and assist with donor communications and fundraising efforts.

The salary range for this position is $68,000–$76,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits include dental and vision coverage, HSA contribution, an Employee Assistance Program, and retirement savings access.

The ideal candidate is organized, communicates clearly, and has experience in operations, finance, administration, or nonprofit work. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We are looking for the right combination of skills, experience, and heart, not a checklist of qualifications.
