It is almost time for back to school, and below are a few programs that we are offering for youth this Fall. Hope to see you all here!

Crafternoon, Tuesdays at 3:30
Starts Tuesday Sept. 1
For Grades K - 4
Join us on Tuesdays afterschool for arts and crafts fun! Each week will be a new project, often messy! This program follows the Lamoille South school schedule (no Crafternoons when there is no school).

STEM September
Thursdays 9/3, 9/10, 9/17 & 9/24
For Grades K - 4
Each week we will tackle a different STEM Challenge that will be fun and educational.

Homeschool Writing Group, Fridays 1:00
Starts Friday Sept. 11
Creative writing, friendship and fun for homeschoolers. Geared toward middle school aged kids- ages 9-14.

Tween D&D, Wednesdays 3:30
Starts Wed. Sept. 9
Join DM Emmett for a new campaign. Geared for middle schoolers. Email [email protected] to sign-up. Limit to 5 participants.

Teen D&D, Wednesdays 3:30
Starts Wed. Sept. 9
Gather with friends for an epic adventure with DM Elke. For teens. Open for new members! Email [email protected] to sign-up.

Pride Teen Group, Thursdays 3:30
LGBTQIA+ teens meet for fun and camaraderie!

And finally, Tuesday Storytime at 10:30 and Sensory Saturdays at 11:00, both for 5 and under, will continue weekly.

Two opportunities to celebrate summer reading before school starts! Tweens and Teens, come by Friday Aug. 14 at 5:15 and kids, stop by the library on Friday Aug. 21 at 2:00. Both parties will have ice cream galore and lots of fun!

Congrats to all of your summer reading accomplishments! We saw so many kids this summer taking stacks of books for their vacations, filling out book recommendations and collecting prizes. Well done!

There is still plenty of time to earn a ribbon for FREE entry to the Champlain Valley Fair! Itโ€™s easy - have read 3 books this summer and stop by the library to fill out a short form. Youโ€™ll get a ribbon that includes free admission, an ice cream, a $5 ride coupon and a free book at the fair! ๐ŸŽก๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’œ

Thank you to the Village of Morrisville and Morrisville Water & Light for the grant to purchase a new storage shed for our trash bins! Over 200 years of experience came together to get it built in just a few hours, but the impact on the library grounds will last many years!

This free event is part of our summer Words in the Woods series. We cover the cost of your park entry so you can enjoy nature before, during, and after the event! Thanks to our friends at Vermont State Parks for partnering with us on this fun series!

Mary Elder Jacobsen is the author of Stonechat (2024), her debut collection of poetry, which was the winner of a Silver Award in The Book Awards at Independent Publishers of New England. She is an editor, illustrator, community volunteer, former hands-on-nature tutor, and Coordinator of the Words Out Loud reading series held in tandem with Art at the Kent in Calais. Her poems have appeared widely in print, online, and on the air.
