🦋👀Something exciting is coming to the Town of Morrisville, NC

The Town of Morrisville is creating its next signature public art moment and we want local and regional artists to help bring it to life. Last summer, our community selected a new symbol that reflects the heart and spirit of Morrisville: the butterfly. Chosen for its beauty, transformation, vibrancy, growth, and sense of community, the butterfly will soon take flight across town as a series of large‑scale public artworks.

We’re inviting artists to submit imaginative, colorful designs for 4‑foot fiberglass butterfly sculptures that will be installed throughout Morrisville. These sculptures will brighten parks, greenways, and other Town‑owned spaces, becoming joyful landmarks that celebrate creativity and connection.

The selected artist will receive an award funded by United Arts Wake County.

Celebrate International Day of Yoga on Sunday, June 21, from 10–10:50 a.m. at Morrisville Community Park! 🧘‍♀️

This grounded, meditative class begins with centering breathwork, moves into seated poses held for 3–5 minutes to gently open the body, and ends with a calming shavasana. It’s suitable for all levels and offers a peaceful way to restore balance and calm.

💪🌳We celebrated National Family Health & Fitness Day on Saturday, June 13 with Zumba in the Park at the Western Wake Farmers Market, followed by a proclamation recognizing the day.

Family Health & Fitness Day is a special observance that highlights the role of parks and recreation in keeping communities healthy and active. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated.

💻 A brand‑new program is launching at Cedar Fork Community Center — 3D Printing & CAD with The Wakaboomee Program

Students dive into the world of 3D printing and CAD design through creative, hands‑on projects. They’ll learn how to design their own models, understand the mechanics behind 3D printers, and turn their ideas into real objects. No experience required — just curiosity and imagination.

Greenway alert! ⚠️

There will be a temporary maintenance closure of the Hatcher Creek Greenway Boardwalk starting on Monday, June 15 and expected to go through Friday, June 26. The boardwalk will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians, for the entirety of the two-week period. Work that will be taking place includes the cleaning and staining of the boardwalk to extend its lifetime.

A pedestrian detour will be put in place running along the sidewalk of Morrisville Carpenter Road. Please follow detour signs and use caution in the area.
