Velma Wortman Morristown Branch - Shelby County Public Library All ages can check out books, dvds, and more at the Morristown Branch of the Shelby County Library. Velma Wortman. Mrs. Wortman was born in 1910.

The public library branch in Morristown first opened in Morristown High School in 2012 and then moved to the Town Hall in 2013. After growing out of that location, the library was moved into the old Shelby County Bank on November 15, 2014 and named after Mrs. We are now called the Velma Wortman Morristown Branch of the Shelby County Public Library. She was a teacher in Marion, Gary and Shelby Counties. When she began teaching, she earned $100 per month. She taught High School English and Theater. While teaching at Morristown High School she became the school's first librarian. The main library is located in Shelbyville, IN. We want to thank the Wortman family for all of their support of the community and the library!

Hi all! We are collecting new school supplies for our local drive to support students as they prepare to return to school. Please drop them off at any of our circulation desks, and we will get them to S.A.S.S. for distribution. The S.A.S.S. team consists of community agencies within Shelby County. We work together to address areas of need in the community. The team works to build partnerships and alliances with groups, organizations, and businesses.
