Earlier today, members of the Morristown Police Department Community Engagement Unit were proud to take part in Diversity Day on the Morristown Green, an event hosted by the Diversity Coalition of Morris County.

Diversity Day is a community celebration that brings together friends and residents from across the Greater Morris County area to recognize and honor the many cultures, backgrounds, and traditions that make our community so strong. The event is designed to promote understanding, share information about different cultures, and help build stronger connections among neighbors. Its continued success is largely due to the dedication of local religious, cultural, educational, and community organizations, along with the many individuals who volunteer their time and support.

A sincere thank you to Officer Bobby Rosado and Don Chaudruc for representing the Morristown Police Department's Community Engagement Unit and for their commitment to strengthening relationships within the community.

Events like today at the Morristown Green are a reminder of the value of partnership, respect, and shared celebration in building a stronger, more connected community. Town of Morristown, NJMorristown PBA Local 43@followers

During National Police Week, we honor and remember the courageous law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while protecting their communities. Their dedication, bravery, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

This week serves as a solemn reminder of the risks our officers face each day and the profound commitment required to wear the badge. We also extend our deepest thoughts and gratitude to the families, friends, and fellow officers who continue to carry the weight of these losses.

The Morristown Bureau of Police has a proud history of service, but also a history marked by sacrifice. We pause this week to remember two Morristown Police Officers who gave their lives in the line of duty while serving and protecting our community.

On October 4, 1929, Officer Joseph K. Vorholz was patrolling on Speedwell Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. He later succumbed to his injuries. Officer Vorholz was 43 years old and was survived by his wife and child.

On May 21, 1936, Officer Carl A. Schlotz was assisting in the recovery of a deceased individual from Burnham Lake when he lost his footing and fell into the spillway. Despite rescue efforts, Officer Schlotz died from his injuries. He was 35 years old and was survived by his wife.

Today, their photographs and badges remain prominently displayed at Police Headquarters as a lasting tribute to their service and sacrifice. During National Police Week, we proudly reaffirm our commitment to ensuring their memory and legacy endure for generations to come.

As we honor Officers Vorholz and Schlotz, we also remember all fallen law enforcement officers across the nation whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us.

To all who serve and protect, especially the dedicated members of the Morristown Bureau of Police, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our community.

Community Day at Lafayette Learning Center 🎉

What an incredible afternoon at Lafayette Learning Center's Annual Community Day! Families, friends, and neighbors came together to enjoy a day full of fun, connection, and celebration, and the energy was unmatched.

Our Community Engagement Unit had a great time meeting so many new faces and strengthening relationships throughout the community.

One of the highlights of the day? Spending time with our new K-9 friend, Quincy—who was visiting the event and showing off his skills learning to ride a police motorcycle. He was definitely a crowd favorite! 🐾🏍️

A special thank you to Lieutenant Chris Oakley, Officer Don Chaudruc, Officer Bobby Rosado, and Officer Greg Hanley for their dedication and enthusiasm in helping make the day such a success. Their efforts ensured a fun-filled and memorable experience for everyone who attended.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect, engage, and celebrate together. Looking forward to seeing even more of you next year! of Morristown, NJMorristown PBA Local 43

As we head into the warmer months, it is important to stay consistent with one simple but highly effective habit: the 9 PM lock up routine.

Longer days and warmer weather naturally bring more activity. Kids are outside later, people are walking pets, windows stay open, and there is more movement in neighborhoods.

While this is one of the best parts of the season, it also creates more opportunities for preventable issues. A quick intentional check at 9 PM helps ensure your home, vehicle, and property are secure before night fully settles in.

A strong 9 PM routine does not take long, but it makes a real difference.

First, lock all exterior doors including side entrances and garage doors.

Next, close and secure all windows, especially on the first floor.

Then check your vehicles, remove valuables, and confirm they are locked.

Turn on exterior lighting or make sure motion lights are working properly.

Finally, take a quick walk around your property to confirm everything is secure.

Consistency is what makes this habit powerful. It is not about fear. It is about prevention and peace of mind. A simple routine at the same time each night builds awareness, reduces risk, and helps ensure your home stays secure through the busy summer season.

Stay alert, stay consistent, and make the 9 PM lock up part of your daily routine.
