Today is the day to bring nature’s tiny buzzers into the spotlight! 🐝
The family of bees- bumblebees, hoverflies, butterflies and other insects play a significant role in contributing to the pollination process, sustainability, bio-diversity, and food security.
Let’s take a moment to celebrate these chemical engineers today, and every day! Zzzzzz
Morris County Parks provide a wide range of natural habitat for this increasingly threatened species to grow, thrive and be!!

Come attend the Butterfly Bonanza event on June 6 at the Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area and learn about the starter hives from the NJ Beekeepers Association. The event will also host tours of the pollinator garden explaining the importance of the bees and other pollinators.

This spring, volunteers have been busy working alongside our Natural Resources staff, removing invasive plant species like multiflora rose, garlic mustard, and linden viburnum from the landscape in order to help set the stage for native plants to flourish.

If you are interested in getting involved with this type of work, we meet for monthly stewardship-focused volunteer events that are available to the public at various parks throughout Morris County. Please visit our website at https://www.morrisparks.net/care-for-our-parks/volunteer for more details.
