It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of retired Firefighter Kevin Flanagan, Badge #13.

Kevin honorably served the Morris Township Fire Department for 26 years before his retirement. He truly embodied the spirit of brotherhood and was the kind of fire fighter we all strive to be. Both in and out of the firehouse, Kevin was dedicated to serving his community with integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

He was a steady voice of reason, a fun-loving presence, and someone who consistently brought out the best in those around him. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Kevin was made better by his friendship, his leadership, and his light-hearted spirit.

While Kevin will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Flanagan family during this difficult time.

Last evening at approximately 9:40 PM, the Morris Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire in one of our residences. Alerted by functioning smoke detectors, all residents self-evacuated. On arrival, our firefighters encountered heavy smoke, limited visibility, and a fire in the growth stage. Firefighters entered the home and quickly extinguished the fire.

Chief Michael Nunn would like to thank our mutual aid departments (Cedar Knolls, Morris Plains, and Madison), EMS crews (Morris Minute Men), and the Morris Township Police Department for their quick response and help during this incident.
We are thankful no one was injured and would like to ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers while they begin their recovery from the incident.

Check your smoke detectors, Sleep with doors closed, get out and stay out.

We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
