As the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks approaches, Morris County and municipalities throughout the county will hold ceremonies and vigils to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and honor the families, first responders and communities forever changed by that day.
Morris County will hold its annual remembrance ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Morris County 9/11 Memorial, 460 W. Hanover Ave., Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills. Dennis Letts, a retired U.S. Secret Service executive who was at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, will serve as the keynote speaker. The memorial, completed in time for the second anniversary of the attacks, incorporates three pieces of World Trade Center steel, remnants of Flight 93 and soil from the Pentagon, along with the names of the 64 Morris County residents who perished in the terrorist attacks.
