Kitchell Memorial Library is excited to start a new monthly program, Homeschool Hangout, beginning Wednesday, September 16, 2026! 📓

See how library resources can support your homeschool and meet other local homeschooling families. This will be an unstructured hour to play games, work on puzzles, read, create, or simply hang out!

Have a fun activity you’d like to share? Bring it along! Whether it’s bracelet making, an art project, a game, or something completely different, we’d love for families to share their interests.

This is a new idea, and we’d love to hear from our local homeschool community!
The 3rd Wednesday is our starting point, but your feedback will help us decide what days and times work best for future gatherings.

Hang out, meet fellow homeschoolers, and help make the library a part of your homeschool community! 💜

Director Charity Daugherty is back from an intensive three-day Director University Core conference, thanks in part to Illinois Heartland Library System. From great program ideas, best practice suggestions, legal guidance, and insights into the future of libraries- there is plenty to put into action at Kitchell Memorial Library!

Charity has been the director at KML for a year and a half now. She continues to learn and collaborate with Krissy and our Board to ensure our library remains the best it can be.

While we may be a small hometown library, we are always learning, growing, and finding new ways to make KML a place our community can be proud of.

🩶 KML’s first Teen Movie Night, featuring “Twilight,” was full of laughs with a great group of teens! Everyone sank their teeth into some great snacks- a big THANK YOU to People's Bank & Trust of Morrisonville for sponsoring our popcorn and to Bob & Lu Anne Stone for generously donating all the goodies for a caramel apple bar & root b**r floats (as it was also National Root B**r Float Day)!

At Kitchell Memorial Library, we strive to be a community and information hub for all ages. We hope that adding a teen night will be a fun way to bridge the gap between our children's programs and our adult offerings, giving teens a place to connect, relax, and have fun at the library.

We received some great feedback on future movie nights and can’t wait to build this program into one that lives on forever! 📚🍿🥤
