Today, four members of the Morris Township Volunteer Fire Company traveled to the Cambria County Training Center to complete the hands-on skills portion of their Firefighter I certification testing. On Friday evening, they completed the written examination and began the practical skills assessments.

I am proud to announce that all four members successfully passed the practical portion of the testing. We now look forward to receiving the results of the written examination.

With the successful completion of the practical testing and pending the results of the written examination, Morris Township Volunteer Fire Company will achieve a significant milestone as a participating department in the Pennsylvania Fire Service Certification Program, with approximately 75% of our active firefighters certified at the Firefighter I level or higher. This accomplishment reflects our department's ongoing commitment to training, professionalism, and providing the highest level of service to our community.

In addition to our Firefighter I certified personnel, many of our members hold advanced emergency medical certifications, including Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, and Nurse Practitioner credentials. This diverse level of training strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive emergency services to those we serve.

Congratulations to all four members on this outstanding accomplishment. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment to training continue to strengthen our department and enhance the service we provide to the residents and visitors of our community.

Please join me in congratulating these members on reaching this important milestone in their firefighting journey.

Engine Tanker 17 responded to assist the BJW Fire Company with a large mulch fire on Forest Lane. Upon arrival, crews were faced with a significant fire involving a massive mulch pile estimated to be approximately 65 feet in height. Engine Tanker 17 played a critical role in the operation, hauling approximately 21,000 gallons of water from a designated fill site to the scene to support ongoing fire suppression efforts.

Firefighters worked for an extended period alongside multiple large pieces of heavy equipment, which were utilized to break apart and move the pile, allowing crews to effectively access and extinguish hot spots deep within the material. The coordinated effort between fire personnel and equipment operators was essential in bringing the incident under control.

Shortly after returning to the station and beginning cleanup operations, Engine Rescue 17 was dispatched once again to assist BJW Fire Company, this time for a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 80 at the 126 mile marker.

While operating at the scene, first responders encountered extremely dangerous conditions due to passing traffic. Despite emergency lights, apparatus placement, and clear indications of an active incident, multiple passenger vehicles and tractor trailers failed to slow down or move over. Several vehicles came dangerously close to striking firefighters and apparatus, creating a serious hazard for those working to assist others.
Morris Township Fire Company would like to strongly remind all motorists: SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER when approaching emergency scenes. Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law is in place to protect first responders, tow operators, and emergency personnel working along roadways. Failing to follow these laws not only puts lives at risk but can also result in significant penalties.
Our crews are committed to serving and protecting the community, but we ask that the public do their part to ensure everyone makes it home safely.

Stay alert, stay cautious, and always give emergency scenes the space they require.

Morris Township Fire Company Incident Report
The Morris Township Fire Company was dispatched yesterday to the 134 mile marker on interstate 80 for a reported tractor-trailer rollover. Initial reports indicated a cattle truck had overturned, with livestock both inside the trailer and in the median.

Engine Rescue 17 arrived on scene to find the operator uninjured. Crews confirmed that multiple cattle remained inside the trailer, while others were outside in the median area. Due to the nature of the incident, the Clearfield County Animal Response Team (CART) was requested to assist.

CART responded to the scene and worked alongside fire personnel to safely offload the cattle from the overturned trailer into a secondary transport trailer.
The operation required coordinated efforts to ensure the safety of both responders and the animals.

Earlier today, Morris Township Fire Company was again dispatched, this time to the area of 6th Street and Parde Road for a reported four-wheeler fire.

Engine Rescue 17 and Engine Tanker 17 arrived to find a four-wheeler fully involved in flames in the roadway. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and secured the scene. During the investigation, it was discovered that the operator had fled prior to emergency services' arrival.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police, Woodland Barracks.
