Greetings all,

As most know, this is Homecoming week for our local communities. We want everyone to enjoy this week and all the festivities that surround Homecoming. In order to promote the health, safety and general welfare of all citizens, the City of Morris has implemented a weeklong curfew for minors under the age of 19. This curfew will take place beginning Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 12:00 am and ending at 06:00 am on Saturday, October 31, 2026. During the curfew hours each day, which is 11:00PM – 6:00AM, it shall be unlawful for minors to remain in public places, establishments or traveling on the roadways within the City limits of Morris unless accompanied by their parents or guardians. This curfew excludes minors traveling to and from lawful employment.

The City of Morris holds Defensive Driving School once a month at the Morris Police Department. Previously, this class was only available for court appointed attendees as a condition of their court case. The City of Morris is now accepting persons who wish to attend the class to help them become a safer driver and/or to assist with a possible reduction on their insurance rates. This will be a great opportunity for teenagers and new drivers alike. The cost for the class is $125.00 and you do not have to be a citizen of Morris to attend. If interested, please contact the City of Morris Magistrate, Kristi Blankenship at City Hall.
